fixed-width file bulk-load into sql database

i'm not sure if this is the right group for this message, if not, i
apologize.

i have an application i'm writing which needs to bulk-load several
million records into an sql server table.

i'm having difficulty trying to get a grasp on what I need to pass to
SQLBulkCopy to get this to work.

I found a tutorial on the web which deals with CSV files, but alas,
since this is not a CSV file (fixed-width non-delimited) it really
isn't applicable.

I have to pass an IDataReader object to SQLBulkCopy. However, I cannot
find any real documentation on IDataReader which explains how to set it
up for reading from a fixed-width file.

Can someone point me in the right direction?
