sql language problem

Dear All:

I am not sure this is the right place to ask this question, but I hope
someone can help me out of that. I have a set of data which is in dbf format
and need to import into my SQL2000 server. The langage in the dbf files is
Protuguese, and after I finish my import into SQL server, the characters
changed into some monster characters, but not the Portuguese. Anyonme knows
what I need to do throughout the import process?? Thanks for all your
attention!

Hi Ivan,

How did you do the import? You may have used bulk copy, but I'd recommend
you build your own routine, connecting to the table using the odbc driver
and then adding rows sequentially. It won't take long but you'll be able to
control things more precisely.

HTH,

Bernie Yaeger

Ivan,

A strange problem, Portugese is a language that is using the 1252 character
code page, the same as AFAIK every Latin or Germanic language. There should
be not any problem.

Can you describe what is maybe special.
