Sub Routine question/problem...

I am trying to call a sub routine with an argument that is a ComboBox
located in a UserControl. I just can't get it to work. It works fine
when the Combobox is on the main Form1. Here's simplified code:

'code from Form1
Dim UC as New myUserControl1
Call mySubRoutine(UC.myCombobox1)

'code from module
Sub mySubRoutine(ByVal Searchfield As ComboBox)
'code to programmatically add items in combobox
End Sub
I don't get an error. But the combobox shows up empty. If the
combobox was NOT in a UserControl (i.e. if it were on Form1), then it
works:

Call mySubRoutine(myCombobox1)

But if the combobox is in a UserControl (and it HAS to be in my app)
then it does not work.

What am I doing wrong?

Thanks for your help!
John
