Hello,
Does anyone know how I can read the ASCII text from a console window
(from another application) in WinXP? It doesn't sound like a major
operation, but although I can find the window via pywin32, I haven't
been able to do anything with it. I'd really just like to get the
window text into a string.
By "console window", I mean the...

This is driving me crazy.
I finally got the Remoting sample chat application working almost.
When I run the chat client in VS.NET it goes into an endless loop --
that's because I assume that there is now way for me to interface to a
Console.ReadLine().
However, when I run it in the cmd window, it does not output any...

This is long. Bear with me, as I will really go through all the convoluted
stuff that shows there is a problem with streams (at least when used to
redirect stdout).
The basic idea is that my application (VB.NET) will start a process,
redirect its stdout and capture that process' output, displaying it in a
window.
I've written a component...

Hi,
Console.WriteLine does something on Release mode?
I have many of them in my application and I want to know if the performace
could be affected, on debug mode I can see a big difference between having
and not because I'm printing many of them on loops, etc.
Now, in Release mode Console.Writeline has something like #if (!Release),...

Hi Newsgroupies,
I'm writing a Web Forms program using C# (VS.NET 2003) and trying to
monitor it whilst running using "System.Console.WriteLine(<params>)" but
can't for the life of me find where it outputs too.
Am I thick or just unlucky?
Please help!

Hi,
I need a function for a character based program (console) that works exactly
like the INKEY$() function in (old) QBasic: Read only 1 keystroke and then
move on. Console.Read; Console.ReadLine;.... all read input until the user
hits <Enter>.
For example, if you get the question "Do you wish to continue? (Y/N)", from
the moment the user...

Hello, :)
I'm currently writing a frontend for a console application using VB .net.
I'm using the traditional Process creation to launch it and redirect input
and output to my windows application, something like this :
myProcess.StartInfo.UseShellExecute = False
myProcess.StartInfo.CreateNoWindow = True...

Hello,
I'm using Pythonwin and py2.3 (py2.4). I did not come clear with this:
I want to use win32-fuctions like win32ui.MessageBox,
listctrl.InsertItem ..... to get unicode strings on the screen - best
results according to the platform/language settings (mainly XP Home,
W2K, ...).
Also unicode strings should be displayed as nice as...

I'm trying to debug a console application, but I can't see the console
output. I've seen many references which say that console output is
supposed to appear on the Output window when the application is run in
Debug mode. However, I just can't get that to work.
I'm using Visual Studio 2005. I've confirmed that my application is
compiled as a...

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it. ...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then...
