We've been creating "silent install" packages using visual studio 2003
and vb.net for quite some time now by simply deleting all of the
window dialog "forms" in the User Interface section of our
installation package.
Up til now, that has worked well: an administrator logged into a
server who installs our package would perform an automatic "Everyone"
install, while others would end up performing an automatic "Just Me"
type of install.
But a new situation has popped up, and I'm curious if anyone else has
run into it and has an answer for me:
When I install our apps with the User interface panels removed on a
WINDOWS SERVER 2003 system, then every install becomes a user one
("Just Me"), even if the person performing the install is logged in
with full administration rights.
Is there a install package property governing this I could set to
restore the original behavior? Re-implementing the User Interface
Panels, in this situation, is simply not an option.
Any thoughts would be appreciated.
