MDI Documents

How can I alter the background color of a mdi form or
even better display a background image, what ever I try
it only shows up as nasty darkcontrol grey !!

Short of overriding OnPaint(), it doesn't look like you can.

If you really need to change it, you could also create a child form that is
always in the back, the proper size, with no borders. I'm not sure it'd look
too good though.

Right, but that's what the user expects if he/she has chosen the color in
the system settings.
