UK postcode table ?

Hi,

I want to sell my app in the UK. In other countries I have been able to find
postcode/suburb data that I have been able to put into an SQL database and
use for lookups.

I cann't seem to find anything for the UK, however whenever I call up a
service and give my post code, they know my address, so I figure the data
must be out there somewhere.

Where can I get it from ? Hopefully something I do not have to pay for....

Hi there,

http://www.brainstorm.co.uk/post-codes.zip

I didn't try downloading this, but the description on the page suggests that
it is what you are after.

You're after the "Postcode Address File" - it's a bit pricy (1700GBP),
but it's the most accurate resource. There are other sellers, but I've
only ever used the GPO.

But saying that... some free software applications actually have
datafiles... You'd probably want to read the licence of the software
you download before ripping data out of them.
