Hello,
Can someone please suggest how to test for a mouse click using
the WinAPI? I have dispatched a windows application and would
like to detect any mouseclicks (and keyboard entry for that matter)...
Thanks.

Hello!
How to detect mouseclick anywhere on the form? There is a lot of
controls on the form, so I don't want to add eventhandler for each of them.
How can I do it in another way?

Hi,
I have created a usercontrol, a grid control essentially. Within it I
have a class: clsGridRecord. I have coded the events such that when a
user clicks on the grid, say, the events occur on the parent form. This
is fine.
The problem occurs when I want to raise an event for a user clicking on
one of the clsRecords which are on the grid. So I've placed:
Public Event GridRecordClicked(ByVal rec As clsGridRecord,

Hi,
I have a webpage to which I have been able to draw an image as a
background and with some icons positioned in several places. The image
is a map of the local area and the icons represent certain places in
the map. I have drawn the icons using the drawimage method but was
wondering how I could be able to detect when the user clicks on an icon
in the map. I need this so I can show a popup with some information
about the place the...

Hi,
I'm trying to add, as you might guess, mouseclick listeners to the shapes
I am drawing using the GDI+ commands in a similar sort of way as could be
done with the old VB "shapes".
Problem is, I'm really not sure of the best way to go about it.
I was hoping I could do it directly like the old shape_onclick events, but
that doesn't seem to be available for GDIs so maybe I could hack something
together using collections of GDI objects and...

I have a simple question about the alt content of area elements
within an image map: is it redundant to include phrases such as
"link to..." or "jump to..."? My initial thought is 'yes', since
the area element implies a link to some other item or page location,
but would like to hear what others think.
If it helps at all, the page which prompted me to ask the question
is this one:

I have placed a button on a page to open a pdf stored on another
site.
When the user clicks on the button I do a Redirect to the pdf URL
.... and this seems to work fine.
Question: is this the best way to do that ?
In case the PDF file, http://My.server.com/MyPdf.pdf is not on the

Hi All
I have an on-screen keyboard within a POS program I have written in VB.net
2005, for touch screen computers
I have it set to 'always on top' so the user can move the cursor to
different text boxes and type using the on-screen keyboard
The keyboard launches via the mouseclick event for any text box
If another form is launched, with the onscreen keyboard still visible, the

Hi There ,
I have a piece of code that opens up Excel and displays CSV files.
The thing is - if Excel is not installed , how can I detect that from within my code? (the application will throw an exception in case it is not installed).
Thanks in advance.

Hi,
I want an app that I'm writing to be able to hide itself whenever it hasn't
been used for say 10 minutes.
Is there a smart way to detect user activity within an app. Kind of overall
message that I can hook up to so that I dont have to call some function to
register user activity in all my gui event handlers.
Jesper.

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Hello
I'm a network technician in training and I need your help.
I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs.
The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols.
I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
