SendMessage between .NET forms and respond?...

1 New Member
So, I have two .NET programs I've coded. They're seperate processes. I'm wondering if it's possible to send a sort of message to one .NET program from the other, perhaps using something like WinAPI's SendMessage. Any ideas?

Hello, I am trying to find a way to tell if an .NET windows forms Button (System.Windows.Forms.Button) is "depressed" (pushed down). For my application, I can not use a check box control set to button style, I must use a System.Windows.Forms.Button. I can not find a way to tell when it is momentaraly pressed. I tried calling the API SendMessage with the button handle and BM_GETSTATE to get the state of the button. This will only return...

Hi, As any one worked in VB.NET and made use of Sendmessage API? The Issue I am running into is how to pass pointers of Data Structures (UDT) to the SendMessage. I starting looking at "IntPrt" as a data type but it appears to fall short of using pointer types. Any help or insight would be greatly appreciated. Thank You

Hi all, I am having trouble converting the code below (found on http://vbnet.mvps.org/index.html?code/core/sendmessage.htm) into a format that will work using vb .NET. Can anyone have a look at it and let me know what I need to change. I have tried changing the "hwnd" type into intptr's but there seem to be other problems too, like it won't allow "lParam As Any" to be declared.

When I use the SendMessage API I can sucessfully send and receive a user defined message. When I use the PostMessage API I can NOT sucessfully send and receive the same user defined message. I've got a C# class library project with two classes: Class 1 is derives from : System.Windows.Forms.Form and overrides the base WndProc method for the purpose of receiving and handeling user defined messages:

How do I set overlay images for ListViewItems in a Windows Forms ListView? I want to overlay an additional Icon on top of the ListViewItem's icon. Since I can do this in MFC/Win32 I suppose this API is somehow exposed in WindowsForms too ? Or do I have to use P/ Invoke myself? If so, is there an (c#, VB.NET) example around somewhere that shows me how to do it ?

Hi I am using the following code to search for a given string in either a listbox or a combo box, but the function always returns the index as "-1". The function fires from the change event of a textbox. This is a program that I am converting from vb6.0, so I think that there may have been a problem in translation. There were two upgrade warnings, which I have left in in code, as they may be the root of the problem! SendMessage...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
