Hello:
Is there a way to see at the python prompt the names of all the public
methods of a class or the names exported by a module? I know that
GUI-based IDEs have a nifty way of displaying these in the form of a
drop-down list, but I'm looking for some function or method that will
simply return a list of strings.

Where do I find information on how to address and pass
data to and from the serial ports and USB ports in VB.
VB6 supports the serial ports easily but I see no
reference to using the USB ports.
VB.net literature does not provide any coverage on either
the serial ports or the USB ports.

Is there an easy way of getting a list of current Comm ports on a machine?
I suspect that most machines these days have 1 and 2, but there could be
others and I would like to get a list of them to offer the end user.

I've a problem with I/O blocking on my serial port at this particular
scenario...
1.I've developed a driver to communicate with some device using Serial
Comm (overlapped I/O).
2.I'm able to send and receive messages perfectly.
3.As part of integration few more drivers also exist inorder to
communicate with different devices.
4.I'm getting I/O blocking and application hangs up for my driver,
when a particular driver is invoked before...

Hello,
I would like to get some opinions on using the Comm Port with
Access 2000. We have a few jobs coming in that require us to interface
with a PLC via the Comm Port. My partner feels we should use a Visual
Basic Front End and the VB component as opposed to Access.
Has anyone had good luck interfacing to a Comm Port using
Access?

I am writing a program and need to identify the friendly names of
ports. I have queried the registry key
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHIN\\EHARDWARE\\DEVICEMAP\\SERIALCOMM, but all that tells
me is which ones actually exist. Is there a way to get the names of
the devices, such as those shown in the Device Manager under "Ports"?

Hi
I am developing a mobile web VB asp.net application in VS 2005. The forms
are mobile web forms. I have a mobile web configuration page (web.config).
In one of my forms I have a DeviceSpecific control so that I can choose to
use an asp:TextBox when PocketIE is detected, otherwise I want to use a
mobile:TextView control.

I'm trying to send some printer commands (ZPLII) to an attached USB printer
using the SerialPort component. I didn't get very far at all. In fact I
haven't gotten anywhere.
The first problem I encountered is that a call to SerialPort.GetPortNames()
returns an empty string. In other words, NO port names are returned. I'm
not terribly knowledgable about ports but from the Hardware Manager I did

I'm running a small program that should list all of the comm ports that are available on the computer. The only problem is that nothing is recognized. I've stepped through the program and it jumps over the while .....hasMoreItems. When I set the hasMoreItems to false it executes it. There are no syntax errors and it runs completely, it just doesn't give me the info I need.
