I am building a data bound application for SQL server which all the
forms I use sqlconnections generated by VS. I want to have a login form
that changes the connection depending upon login parameters. The only
way I can think to do this is to:
1. Connect in the login form.
2. Get the connection string.
3. Close the connection.
4. Pass the connection string in the new forms constructor and assign
the connection string after the...

Hello,
I was wondering what the best way would be to dynamically determine and
store connection string information. What I mean by this is that I want the
application to user the servervariable to determine what location it is
running in and then dynamically assign a connection string value based on
that location. I was planning on doing this from the codebehind pages which
works fine because I am able to use the response object to...

Hello,
I'm developing a web services apllication using SQL Server in mixed mode.
I'm also using WSE 3.0.
For each user in the application there's a corresponding user on the
database. The client always sends the username to the web service for
identification.
I have a connection string stored in the web service for the visual
designed
datasets and for the connection I make manually.

The company I work is considering to use the Enterprise Library
(january/2006) Data Data Access Application Block. The problem is an internal
policy that forces all company systems to get the connection string from a
text file that already exists in the network.
Is there any way to just pass the connection string to the Data Data Access
Application Block instead of getting it from the app.config or web.config?
I belive I´ll have to...

Hi,
At startup the user log on and chooses the name of a client from a
dropdownlist, which then changes dynamically the connection string (the
name of the client indicates which database to use).
I then change dynamically the connection string by doing :
My.Settings.Item("ConnectionString") = "some connection sring"
The problem is that if another user loggs in and chooses another
client, then obviously it changes the connection string...

Hi,
I don't get it. I'm using a typed dataset with table adapters and all
that stuff. I have the database server running locally on my development
system.
Now: when creating a tableadapter I'm asked for the connection and the
connection string is automatically stored in the settings. So far so good.
However, my typed dataset is declared within a dll that implements other

VS2008, .NetFramework 3.5 SP1:
I have built a LINQ data access layer project. When the LINQ data context
was built over an existing SQL2005 database, the connection string for that
database was correctly, automatically, placed into the Settings for the LINQ
project. It works, but it's a "static" connection string.
I would like to be able to use this one LINQ data access layer against both
test and production databases without having...

I have defined connection strings in the settings tab of the properties page
of a Windows forms project.
Users need to be able to modify the connection string through the
application - how do I change a connection string in the settings
dynamically at run time?
Thanks

Hi Everyone,
I have a problem that is quite frusturating.
I am passing in an image from a database, which is to be accessed in an image button. When I dynamically add the string for an sql command, the image is not found, and a red X appears in place of the image. However, when I use a static string, everything works and the image is there.
I have tested my code, and special characters is not the problem.
I posted my code below.

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it.
First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends,
With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own....
Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
