Hi all,
I'm using windows media player as an object in visual basic 6. I have two
sound cards in the PC. The default sound card is used for explorer "clicks"
and statup / shutdown sounds in windows. The second card is connected to my
stereo system and I want to have WMP play through this card. Even after
having studying the SDK I can't seem to figure out how to do this. In the
Windows Media Player it'sself I can set up which device it...

Here's one for the trolls...a common jibe from them is setting up
audio/video hardware under linux.
Ok, true story: at work today, someone asked me if I could tell him why
his XP Home would play the video from a DVD but not the audio. He had
been searching for an answer for days on support.microsoft.com but found
none. I suggested Google and Gateway. Gateway had nothing, but sure
enough, search for *XP DVD no sound* on Google and...

I'm putting together a C# .Net forms project on win2k. The application
requires some sort of horn sound. I've never implemented any audio in .Net,
so I'm not sure how best to accomplish this.
It's an application that works with a wireless barcode scanner, in a
warehouse environment. The user could be potentially 20 or 30 ft. from the
PC. If the user scans something improperly, the app should sound a 'horn' to
notify the user. I'm trying...

I got a problem with detecting sound card with Windows x
I use SDK function waveInGetNumDevs() to test if there is a sound card. But even if there is no sound card installed, the function still returns 1. And even waveInGetDevCaps() returns no error. I checked device->hardware, and there are some items under "Audio, Vido and game" catogary, they includes
"Legacy audio driver",
"Audio codecs
"Media Control devices
Guess there are some...

In these to cases, I imagine the encoding server is still working fine but

I know that an internal sound card has to be one listed as for a specific mother board. However, does this rule apply to external sound cards? I use a satellite A75-s2112 toshiba laptop, intel pent 4, windows xp, and forget where to find the motherboard info. I just remember that it only had Realtek AC'97 sound drivers that work with it, when I did that research.
My Realtek AC '97sound card drive keeps malfunctioning such that I'd have no...

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it.
First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own....
Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
