Hello,
I could really use some help. I'm trying to install a python program
on centos4 x86_64. When I run 'python setup.py' it ends up in
/usr/lib64/python2.3/site-packages/ instead of
/usr/lib/python2.3/site-packages. It's a problem because the program
I'm trying to install is a dependency for something that is only
32bit. How can I specify a 32bit install? What I've tried so far:
When I try 'python setup.py build --build-lib...

Hi all,
After we upgraded a db2 database on AIX 5.2 from 32bit to 64bit, we
noticed a strange problem. That is, some queries would perform table
scan instead of index scan. However, once the database is downgrade
from 64bit to 32bit, then these same queries would perform index scan.
Has anyone experienced similar problem?

Hi all,
Controls such as the tree view or list view use image lists hence I can set
the quality of icons to 32bit. This way they look their best.
Unfortunately both the menu and tool bar strip control don't use image lists.
How can I still achieve 32bit icon quality (icons are natively 32bit) in
these controls? I don't see any such property in either of them.

I need to detect whether the operating system I am running on (not the
Python version) is 64bit or 32bit. One requirement is that I need to
include support for non-Intel/AMD architectures.
The 2 ways I have thought detecting 64bit are:
1. struct.calcsize("P") == 8
2. '64' in os.uname()
I'm not convinced that either one of these is really adequate. Does

i'm trying to embed multiple program icons in my executable. the only
way so far i managed to do that is to embed native win32 resource file
with multiple icons. it works, but... when i create a native win32
resource file with the VS 2005 and put there my icons, VS always
converts some of the 32bit icons into 24bit - so i loose alpha blending
what makes my icons look ugly.
I did an experiment and created a icon file with full range of...

(I'm using Visual Studio 2008)
I want my new develloper pc to be Vista 64bit, but all my clients are so
far 32bit (XP), so my questions are:
1) Is it possible for me to tell VS2008 that the output should be 32bit?
That is devellop dotnet on a 64bit machine and output 32bit program?
2) When later this year, all my clients are updgraded to Vista 64bit,
can I then tell VS2008 easialy to change my solution from 32bit to 64bit?

Hi all,
I built an app with the "Platform target" of x86. Then I installed it as a
Windows Service. When it's running, I can see in the Task Manager that the
executable has "*32" following it, which I think means it's running in 32bit.
But after I changed the log on account of the service, the "*32" disappeared
and it's running in 64bit. Is there any way to fix this? I need to run it in
32bit.
Thanks.

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends,
With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own....
Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello
I'm a network technician in training and I need your help.
I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs.
The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols.
I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
