Tools - Options - Windows Form Designer - general - LayoutMode.

I used to go blind with the dots though.

I'm having trouble getting the controls placed where I want them because
it's always snapping them to alignment with other controls. I'm pretty
sure you can turn of the snap to alignment with the dots but I need some
kind of positive alignment. I'd LIKE a compromise between the two maybe
the lines like it defaults to in 2005 but not making them snap into
place with other controls. It's too hard to explain so I'm not sure why
I'm even typing this. Got work to do.

Personally I find the 2005 version of aligning controls much better than the
old grid style and I wouldn't go back, but are you aware that holding left
ALT key while dragging temporarily turns of snap alignment, which can help
with precise alignment in some cases.

Regards,

Martin.

No, I wasn't aware of that. That could be all I need.

I may not be the best forum for this post, however I believe some one can still help me or direct me somewhere else. I'm finding that win 2003 x64 and SQL 2005 CTP is slower than win 2003 and SQL 2000. Machine A: Opteron 2.2 (248) w/ 2 cpus. 8GB memory. SCSI disk array. Windows Enterprise 2003 x64 final release. SQL Server 2005 enterprise CTP. Machine B: Opeteron 2.2 (248) w/ 2 CPUs. 4GB Memory. IDE Drives. Windows Server 2003 (32bit)...

Hi, I had Visual Studio 2003 installed, and installed also visual Studio 2005 Beta 2. The problem is, when I am starting now (double click) a solution (*.sln-file), it always start it with Visual Studio 2005, and not 2003. I'm trying to change it in the registry, or jsut simply with an "open with" and the "always use this program to open"-option checked, but it doesn't work. Simply changing it in the "file types" in the explorer doesn't...

I just got my copy of VS 2005 and getting ready to install it but I am not sure if the installation of VS 2005 is going to override my 2003 installation. Ideally, I would like to have the two versions running at the same time and slowly upgrade my 2003 apps to 2005. Anybody knows if by installing the VS 2005 will erase my 2003 version? One more thing, I *upgrading*, this is not a full version of VS 2005 which is why I am afraid it...

Hi there, I have one another question on VSS 2005 and VS 2003. We had few projects built in VS 2003 and we had all of those projects under the VSS 6.0 until now. But as part of our development environment up gradation our idea is slowly move few projects from VSS 6.0 to VSS 2005. As a test we did move an ASP.NET project that was built in VS 2003 project (no solution file) from VSS 6.0 to VSS 2005 and the move was successfully (not...

Is 2005 worth the upgrade? Some time ago, I read it was really slow. Is this true? Any thoughts would be appreciated. Also, how easy is it to upgrade from 2003 app to 2005? Does it break everything in typical, MS "Sorry, that's your problem" style? Thanks, Shane

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
