Generally speaking, what does it mean when I see a "button" with red text
showing this message instead of the control I've dragged onto the web form
in Design View.? (But the page works fine at runtime). Does it indicate
a problem with References for example?
Thanks
Owen

Hi,
I'm running visual studio 2003, and am now receiving the error "The
Operation Could Not Be Completed" when attempting to add a form / control or
component class to a project. I can add any other type of item without a
problem.
This is the second time this has happened to my machine, last time I
reinstalled VS and it fixed it.
I havent installed anything since that time, so I guess it must be some sort
of corruption in the system.

Hi all,
VS 2003 shows a very strange behaviour when I add existing items to a
controlled project:
- if the items are not under source control, VS automatically adds them
to source control.
- if they are under source control, VS checks them out!

Hey guys:
What can I do when an "Error Creating Control" is displayed on the form
(instead of the control), and a tooltip indicating the error never is
displayed?
Is there some log, some hidden message, some entry in registry where a
log is created (or that enables a log, trace, dump or whatever)...
I'm a little bit frustated with this error :-(
Tks,
Ravi.

Just wondering if it's possible (easy?) to create a "character mode" control
that can be included onto a form.
Basically I'm looking for a text mode control that uses a fixed width font
that will support multiple foreground colours. If it supports copy/paste
from the mouse it would be a bonus. The important thing is that is should be
fast.
Trying to emulate it with a textbox just won't cut it.

I have a barcode scanner which uses a "keyboard wedge" program so that the
data it scans comes through as if it was typed on a keyboard. I am trying
to have the data in the barcode be displayed in a text box. I know that
there are certain control characters embedded in the data that I want to
display substitutions for in the text box, for instance I want to replace
ASCII character 04 with the string "<EOT>". I have tried doing a simple...

Hello,
I have two questions:
1.) Could I create a custom server control in 2005 in order to leverage
the CompositeControl base class and then use that control in 2003?
(fingers crossed but guessing aboslutely not)
2.) How good does ASP.NET 2005 handle a custom composite control inside
of a custom composite control ?

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Dear forum friends,
With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. Hello
I'm a network technician in training and I need your help.
I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs.
The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols.
I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
