I can't use Type.InvokeMember(...) on a remote object.
But when I use Type.InvokeMember(...) on a non-remote object in the
exact same way, I don't have a problem.
Does someone know what I'm doing wrong? Or if using InvokeMember on a
remote object is just a bad idea?
The reason I wish to use InvokeMember rather than to call the method
directly is because I don't want to install the assembly describing

Hi,
On Google, one can find a lot of statements that Invoke and
InvokeMemeber work alike. However, my own experience contradicts this
statement.
1. Surprisingly, Invoke and InvokeMember methods work differently!
I'm working with some legacy COM. The COM object (CMyCOM) implements
an interface that is not dual. The interface has a method, let say,
HRESULT Foo();
The corresponded coclass defines an interface

The following code shows what I am trying to do. The normal invocation of
the CalcByRef produces the correct results, however, using the InvokeMember
fails to correctly pass the single argument by reference. How can I
correctly pass the short by ref through a InvokeMember.
using System;
using System.Reflection;
namespace TestByRef
{
class DoByRef

I am trying to dynamically invoke a property of enumeration type but I can't
find a way to get it to work. This is my code which works fine until I call
InvokeMember and I get an ArgumentException. I've tried various combinations
of parameters in my call to InvokeMember but can't find anything that does
the job. Any help would be appreciated.

Is it possible to access the property of an object using a string containing
the name of the property you want to access? Something like:
oCustomer = New Customer
propname = "FirstName"
Console.Write(GetPropertyValue(oCustomer,propname)) <-- returns
oCustomer.FirstName

I am trying to retrive some WMI properties using Option Strict On.
This requires the use of InvokeMember.
I know that there are alternative ways to get the values, but I want to
learn how to use WMI with InvokeMember and Option Strict On.
I'm getting an "Unknown Name" error in the following statement in the code
below.
objProp = typeObjProps.InvokeMember("Item", _

I asked this question before but got no responses. Let me rephrase the
question. I have a class that as a property defined as a list of
classes.
Public Class ClassA
Public Property Prop1 as List(of ClassB)
In a code segment, I can add an instance of ClassB to the Prop1
property of an instance of ClassA with the statement:

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it.
First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends,
With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies.
