tableadapter update - sql server 2005 raiseerror datatables

Hopefully someone has an answer for this or maybe I am missing
something.

I have a stored procedure - this stored procedure is used as my main
insert for a tableadapter

I am doing something like mypolicyadapter .Update(mydatat able) after I
add the appropriate rows...

In this stored procedure I am executing multiple other stored
procedures...if something in one of these blows up it falls into the
catch block of my main stored procedure.
Everything is working great ok..

In the catch block I have a RAISEERROR to let the client ( vb.net 2005)
know that the insert failed...HOWEVE R....the tableadapter keeps going
happily along like nothing EVER happened - WHAT GIVES???? why doesn't
the RAISEERROR tell the tableadapter I have a fatal error?? Instead I
am left executing code on a datatable that is missing identity
fields....

Any input would be appreciated

Hi, Have anyone ever benchmark the TableAdapter performance compared to DataTable's Load method? I found out that the DataTable's Load method is about 10x faster than TableAdapter's Fill method. I used the same SELECT query and DataSet (predefined), for both test. For the DataTable's Load method, we first need to create a DataReader.

We have been noticing that questions on vs.2005/2.0 don't appear to get much in answers so I'm reposting some questions posted by some of the programmers here in our organization that never got answered... There are articles on the new TableAdapters where it says that a key new advantage is that a single TableAdapter, which can have multiple queries, can be used on multiple forms. Now that was in an article on using TableAdapters with...

Dear Group, When I add a DataTable to a Typed Dataset, and a TableAdapter to the DataTable, I am able to create methods to send updates directly to the database (GenerateDBDirectMethods), however when my TableAdapter Fill SQL contains a WHERE clause which looks up a field from another joined table, the Fill works perfectly, but I cannot Insert, Update or Delete using the TableAdapter. Does anyone know why this is?

On a form, I have a datagridview. This datagridview is constructed on a dataset filled by a tableadapter. The table adapter do very well what it must do when filling dataset. Insertions, modifications and deletions functions very well in the dataset. But impossible to transmit modifications in ACCESS database. Impossible to WRITE in database. Here is the code for data transmission from tableadapter to Access database :

My situation compares to this: I have two tables parentTable(id, foreignId) and childTable(id, value). "foreignId" in the "parentTable" references "id" in "childTable". The constraint is by default set to "ON DELETE NO ACTION" (using sql server 2005), which means the delete fails if there are related records in the childTable. My main problem is that when I use the datatable.Remove() method and later execute the tableadapter.update()...

Hi, I have a bunch of DataTables with TableAdapters in a DataSet that hook up with stored procedures. Whenever I changed parameters on a stored proc, I just reconfigured the TableAdapter, which then regenerated the code. This would break my compile, which is expected. Today, this doesn't work. If I preview data, I can see all the stored proc parameters, but the GetData signature didn't update. After I deleted the Temporary ASP.NET...

I'm not really sure how to ask this question because I'm still getting my feet wet with data access and VB.NET, but here goes: To start off with, I'm using VB 2005 Express to connect to an Access database. I have a dataset in which a parameterized query returns the correct result set in the forms of a tableadapter and a bindingnavigator. In other words, I can perform my query and see that the tableadapter and bindingnavigator contain...

Hi Guys, need some help here, Im working on a project in vb.net, the problem im facing is that my tableadapter.update(dataset.datatable) is not functioning, the datatable has a relation with another table, the relationship is on to many. in the dataset designer I configured it to Relation only, the database is in mdf format, I can update my records in the access file, and can do it also in the server explorer, but not when from my form,...

Hi, I have a stored procedure that uses JOINs to return columns from multiple tables. I also have another stored proc that that takes a series of params and updates multiple tables. I used the framework to auto-generate a table adapter specifying both stored procs as Get/Fill and Update. The problem is that columns from the JOINed table seem to marked as 'read-only' so trying to update a row results in an exception. BTW, by default a...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends, With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
