Installing VB.NET 2003

Hello

I have downloaded the VB.NET 2003 iso from MSDN and tried to install it onto a
virtual pc but the installation doesn't get far at all because it asks me for a
prerequisites disk that I don't have and which is not available for download
from MSDN, has anyone had this problem with the VB.NET 2003 MSDN iso? What can I
do to get around this? I already have the .net framework 1.1 and 2.0 installed
on the virtual pc with all the latest patched from Microsoft update

Thanks

Hello Alex,

Generally speaking, the prerequisites disk means some windows updates that
we need to install before installing VB.NET 2003. I didn't have the iso
handy so far. Could you please check the image to see whether it has a
directory named bsln?

If yes, you may see some subfolders into it like dotnetframework , ie60sp1,
mdac27sp1 and etc. Please run setup.exe in bsln directory and all the
prerequisites software will be installed and you should be able to install
VB.NET 2003.

If the problem is still can't be resolved, please feel free to reply here.
We will follow up as soon as possible. Thanks very much and have a good day.

Best regards,
Yanhong Huang

Hi Yan-Hong

I have checked the ISO and it does not contain a folder called bsln, mdac27sp1,
dotnetframework or ie60sp1, also the ISO is a not a DVD it is a CD

FYI I am installing VB.NET 2003 Russian onto a Russian language version of
Windows XP Professional SP2 that has all the latest security patches from
Microsoft update, the .NET Framework 1.1 and 2.0 and Internet Explorer 6 on a
Virtual PC

do you think that the presence of the .NET Framework 2.0 might be interfering
with the installation? Either way the prerequisites are clearly not present on
the CD. I happen to have some Visual Studio 2003 disks one of which is the
prerequisites disk but the setup for VB.NET 2003 Russian wouldn't accept the
prerequisites disk for visual studio 2003 English. I've looked on MSDN but I
can't find the prerequisites disk. What can I do?

Thanks

Alex

Hello,

You may try to bypass the prerequisites check by following command:

X:\Setup.exe /NO_BSLN_CHECK

where X is the CD drive.

Hi Luke

Thank you for your advice!

I was able to install VB.NET 2003 Standard after using the setup.exe command
that you mentioned below from the setup folder on the ISO

If I install the Outlook add-in by right clicking on the setup project and sleeting Install then the add-in gets installed fine in Outlook. However if I use the setup generated in the setup project Release folder then even though setup runs and finishes, the Outlook Add-in does not appear in Outlook. Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
