Late binding or other way besides using remoting to access a VB.net 2005 assembly from VS.Net 2003

Hello All ,

I encounter the following strange situation ,,,
I have developed a remoting component , this functions fine ,,, however a
customer wanted to have the ability to access this component directly
through COM so i made the necessary changes and it works fine with COM in
VB6 ,,,,,,, however now we have the situation that a third party wants to
create a wrapper to this component ( to translate XML to classic adodb
recordset objects that they want to pass to VB6 )

They develop in C# 2003 ( i tried it in VB.Net 2003 and encounter the same
problem ) it doesn`t seem possible to reference the component written in
VB.Net 2005 so i thought well let me fall back to COM and there i see a
strange behavior ,,,,,, it doesn`t seem to be possible to late bind a .Net
COM component ( strange ,,,, why not ?? )

So the only possibility i see sofar is by accessing the component through
remoting ,,,, or does anyone have another solution ??
regards

Hi All, This is driving me nuts, especially since I have this working for my main application with no problem. I suspect it might be due to Namespace conflicts, but I'm not positive. Any help is vastly appreciated. This is part of a routine for switching between using local and remote business logic libraries. Essentially, it's a fairly simple late-binding routine. However, When I try to cast oLocalObject to

I was reading about late binding, but I'm not completely sure what is to be done in order to adjust code to late binding... For example, I'm not sure if this is correct: early binding: Dim ws As DAO.Workspace Dim db As DAO.Database Dim qdf As DAO.QueryDef Dim rs As DAO.Recordset

..Net is great for modulerising libraries, so that all you need do to access a DLL, is simply call Add Reference and wallah, it's as though the library were written in your project. But what happens when i know that a library must have some method, say void StoreXML ( string XMLmsg ) but want to late bind, as in, only at run time, decide which library i wish to use.

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends, With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
