Network Names/IP's/Remote Shutdown

Happy Christmas Everyone!!

How do I return the names of all the workstations (not Windows 2003 servers)
in the domain into a treeview (with checkboxes) & shutdown those machines
that are checked?

I also need to know their IP addresses & whether they are at the login
screen or logged in. Plus, return whether the machine has shutdown...

Most machines are Windows XP Pro, but some are 2000 too.

I am not interested in using 'shutdown.exe', but 'InitiateSystem Shutdown' or
'InitiateSystem ShutdownEx'.

I need to establish 'SE_REMOTE_SHUT DOWN_NAME' & 'SE_TCB_NAME' forcibly too

Please don't send me links to Google posts (Herfried), but real VB.NET 2003
code

Thanks in advance,

Crouchie1998

I know that writing ASPX app we easily can get all required information about remote machine and network right from the user's browser using this request: NameValueCollection coll = Request.ServerVariables; But what if we write a Web Service? What can we do in this case? How can we get the remote machine IP and the HostName for example? Do we have any way that can be used from the Web Service for that? I know that I probably can get...

Hi, I'm trying to build an IP Scanner inc c# for a specific port (80) and for specific IP Ranges. For example 24.36.148.1 to 24.36.148.255 My first step was to use TcpClient, but there are nothing to control Timeout Connection... and I wasn't interested to wait 25-30sec for each ip. After some search, it's look like Socket was the solution with

Hi Everyone, I have an application that sits behind a server farm, the application needs to pass its NLB IP address in the message that it sends to another service. From C# code, how can I determine the IP address of the network load balanced machine that the message is generated from? So, in essence, I have server1, server2 and server3 sitting behind the NLB IP address 100.1.2.100, then I have server4 and server5 sitting behind NLB...

Hello, Suppose I have a Vista machine called VISTA and an XP machine called XP in a workgroup named WORKGROUP. Physically they're connected to a router and I can see lists of public and shared files on each of them. How do I address these for IO? A search suggested that the form open(r"\\server\folder\folder"), but I tried many combinations guessing what it wants for that path in my case (r"\\WORKGROUP\VISTA", "\\VISTA\PUBLIC", etc),...

Hi every1, I am writing a small client/server application and in it I want to send an image asynchronous from the client to the server through a TCP socket. I found an example code on the MSDN site, which is actually for sending strings. I tried to adapt this code so that the client sends an image instead of a string. However, there is something wrong on the server side (i guess)... The server starts listening, the client starts sending...

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it. First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends, With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
