1. Is there a more suitable, dedicated newsfeed for VB2005 yet?
2. I'm confused as to which version to get. I work for a small company and
we will just need VB2005 on my PC. Therefore that tends to suggest the
express version, but I write some pretty complicated stuff (including
SQLServer transactions, network programming etc) and I am wondering what is
missing from the Express version in terms of components, functionality etc.
I don't...

Dear all,
I installed Visual Basic 2005 Express and SqlServer Express.
I tried some features of both of them but I'm not able to connect a
databse through a network.
To explain, I have two computer in the same work group. In one of them
I have installed SqlServer Express and the other one works as client, i
mean, i want to develop a software able to connect to the first one and
make operation with the database.
Using the "DataSource...

Hello,
I have an SP that inserts data into a sqlserver table. If a condition is
not met within the SP after the data has been inserted into the table, the SP
will rollback the insert.
If I were to write the same procedure as inline sql in a VB2005 app
cmd.CommandText = "Insert Into tbl1 Values(' & txt1.Text & ')"

I'm pretty new to both sql 2005 and VB but please bear with me. I have
installed SQL 2005 express on a Windows 2003 Standard server. I have
also installed VB 2005 Express edition on the server. SQL seems to be
running fine (I can create databases, tables, modify them, etc.) I have
created a very basic app in VB express that just lets me view and
modify the current tables. It works just fine on the server. However, I
am trying to make...

I am wondering if I should use MS Access or SQL server as my database.
I have a little experience programming an Access DB with VB6 (DAO/ADO).
I am now starting over with VB2005 and will be doing some DB
development. I assumed that I would stay with Access but noticed that
there is some type of SQL server that comes with Visual Studio 2005 and
also in the Express editions as well.
I am using this in a single user environment on a PC...

I am presently a user of classic vb6 and hang out on those newsgroups. Some
of you may be aware that there is a very anti MS and vb2005 feeling there. I
have tried to get them to tell me which features of vb2005 are actually
worse then vb6 in practice, and forget the philosophy of backward
compatibility for a moment.
I would now like to hear "the other side". Could *anyone who previously used
vb6* (only those pleased; I feel the others...

I'm fairly new to c#, but not new to programming. I'm tasked with rewriting
our Gupta/Sqlwindows apps (5 years worth of development) in dot Net. The
main reason is that virtually no one knows the language, which is
unfortunate because it's very simple to get windows created and rolled out.
I downloaded C# (orcas) express and had created a SqlServer 2005 database
(locally, ie not on a server) and moved some of our production data into it...

I was told that SqlServer express should get installed when VS2008Pro is
installed (that is it is on the same DVD).
I had a couple of errors during vs2008's installation and I don't see any
signs of sqlserver.
Is SqlServer Express suppose to get installed when VS2008 Pro is installed?
Or should I download SqlServer and installed it that way?

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it.
First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Hello
I'm a network technician in training and I need your help.
I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs.
The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols.
I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
