Can Visual Basic work on a linux operating system?

I have read in a few books that the .NET framework can work on different
platforms also know as cross platforming, but I can't find anything on a
Microsoft website confirming this. It seems if this were true, I wouldn't
have to research this very hard. You'd think Microsoft would advertise this.

Microosft doesn't directly support running on Linux (for obvious
reasons), but see http://www.mono-project.com for an alternative CLI
implementaton that does.

I'm a newbie to Visual Basic. I have been recently working with text files, but for some reason my computer gives me an error: "Compile Error: User Defined Type Not Defined". It highlights fso as new filesystemobject. An example of the code is: Private Sub Command1_Click() Dim fso as new filesystmobject, txtfile My operating system is Windows XP Home Edition. I already have scrrun.dll. I am using Visual Basic 6.0 Standard Edition....

The war of the OSes was won a long time ago. Unix has always been, and will continue to be, the Server OS in the form of Linux. Microsoft struggled mightily to win that battle -- creating a poor man's DBMS, a broken email server and various other /application/ servers to try and crack the Internet and IS markets. In the case where they didn't spend their own money to get companies to

Hi, On Friday I attended the Microsoft EVO conference in London where they talked about Vista, Office 2007 and Exchange 2007 and how they all work together beautifully, how they were all "people-ready" etc... I asked a couple of questions about Visual Studio.NET on Vista, especially on 64-bit Vista, and they became *very* nervous... To cut a long story short, Microsoft will not support ANY version of Visual

In most modern distributions of Linux and Unix (at least ones with graphical environments like KDE, Gnome or XFCE), you get to mount your partitions easily from the desktop. In some cases however, it isn't that easy. Note, that all of these commands have to be run in a terminal as root user. To open a terminal (sometimes called a console), either press ALT+F2 and type xterm (alternatives could be konsole or terminal) or press CRTL+ALT+F1 to...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
