.NET DevEnv Freezing up

boB
When I try to run a program - any program - my environment all of a sudden starts freezing up. Even an empty solution. It will build, but never run the built program and the GUI won't respond and needs to be killed with Task Manager. It was running fine until I experimented with VBPowerPack copying it into a current folder instead of using Copy Local. Now, even after deleting it completely, I'm frozen no matter what. To make matters worse, I can't figure how to delete VIsual Studio.NET so that I can reload it. The Add/Remove says to use Control Panel, but I can't see where. Is my $1500 investment dead in the water? HELP!!

Hi Would suggest that instead of using the process class and invoking the devenv, u try using the VS.Net object library. This will help you perform the operations in a much more controlled way. regards,

I have created a website to perform simple builds for our development staff. When I call devenv.exe from a batch file, a cgi script or a compiled 'C++' program the program times out, won't run or just disappears. Can't the CLI equivalent be run from a web page located on the build machine. The build machine has VS.Net 7.1.3088 and MS.net framework 1.1.4322.n other words the VS.Net 2003 installation package.

Has anybody experienced this problem? I have a solution that consists of 6 or 7 projects. Every so often (2 or 3 times a week) when I click Run, everything builds seemingly OK, but then, just when I would expect the app to start, nothing happens, and the task manager shows devenv.exe sitting at 100% cpu, fixed memory (about 127 Megs), forever. The only way out is to kill it from the task list. When this happens, I can usually fix it by...

I am using devenv to build a solution. The Solution comprises 2 projects :- one C++ and the other a Fortran project. I created this solution by automatically converting a Visual Studio version 6 project. When I build the solution in a Visual Studio .NET workspace, it builds successfully with no errors in either project.

I installed VS .Net 2003 60 day trial version in Windows XP Pro environment. When I tried to launch VB .Net I got the following error: "Visual Studio ..Net is unable to start because the file devenvdgg.xml is missing or corrupted. To correct problem copy devenvdgg.xml from your setup location to the following folder in your installation directory ".../Microsoft Visual Studio .Net 2003/Common7/Ide." This is the fourth time I have run...

Hi, Does anybody reach this situation: When selecting "Add Resrouce", on a .rc file, the IDE disappear suddenly. I debuged the devenv.exe with another instance of it, and the output window shows, just before choosing "Add Resource", the lines below: 'devenv.exe': Loaded 'E:\Arquivos de programas\Microsoft Visual Studio ..NET\Vc7\vcpackages\VCProject.dll', No symbols loaded.

Hi, I am using VC7.1 to build a big solution (70 projects, lets say project A, B, C, ...). I am using filemon to look at what VC7.1 does while compiling project A. And I see that devenv.exe is accessing a lot of files of ALL my projects (.cpp files, .h files ...) !!!

Most of my ideas seem usless or stupid, but I think expressing them here doesn't harm much. This is an idea for Py 3.0, because it's not backward compatible. Dicts and sets require immutable keys, like tuples or frozensets, but to me they look like a duplication. So the idea is to remove tuples and frozensets (and replace the few other uses of tuples with lists, like the % interpolation), and to add a freeze operation, to freeze lists,...

Hi, I've been working with devenv from the command line for the last couple of days and cannot get to build the msi file correctly. if I excecute the devenv.exe via the command line or batch file it creates a .msi file with 5k size, however, if I build my solution via the IDE then I get a correct .msi with 9MB. I am using the devenv in a batch file as follow: @set projdir=E:\netproject

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends, With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
