Hi,
In my application, on some given actions while debugging in Visual Studio, I
suddenly get a "System.ComponentModel.Win32Exception was unhandled"
Message="Error creating window handle." exception.
The problem is that this exception isn't raised somewhere in a method, so it
just shows up, and it causes the application to shut down.
Is there anyway how to catch this kinds of exceptions? Can I put somewhere a

I am having a bit of a problem with catching an exception within a thread.
Here is the scenario:
I have a Windows Form.
I create a new thread.
This new thread calls a method in another DLL that catches an expected exception.
The method in the DLL throws the exception back out.
When in debug mode, the process just exits.

Hi all. I've got an question about how to catch an exception.
In Page_Load, I place a DataGrid, dg1, into edit mode. This will
call the method called GenericGridEvent. GenericGridEvent will
call a mehtod called ExceptionGenerator that will generate a run-time exception.
The exception is caught in GenericGridEvent, but it isn't caught in
InitializeComponenet (which doens't suprise me). I can't figure
out where to catch an error that may...

I created a try/catch/finally but when an expection is thrown, the
catch does not handle it... (I know this code is wrong, I want to
force the error for this example)
try
{
DataSet ds = new DataSet();
string strID = ds.Tables.Rows.ToString();
}

Now this is bugging me.
I just released software for a client and they have reported an unhandled
stack overflow exception.
My first concern is that the entirity of the UI and any threaded operations
are all within Try Catches to help me locate the problem and the origination
of any problem by specifiying an error code in the "Catch" section.
So theoretically this shouldn't have been possible (at which point we all
say "yeah,...

Hi all,
This one really has me and the other .Net developers at my work
stumped. I have an application that is doing the following:
1 - attempt to validate that user can create a windows task via COM
interops
2 - an exception is thrown because user doesn't exist
3 - Exception is caught by calling code shown below:

Is "catch" in C# going to catch all exception, or it just catch the
exceptions induced by "throw"? Will it also catch those "structured
exceptions" that could be either from system modules or other DLL or COM
objects of native code?
If seeing a dialog of this:
"Unhandled exception at 0x8f345690 in vsdv.exe: 0xC0000005. Access violation
reading location 0x02313000."

I am using:
Application.ThreadException += new
System.Threading.ThreadExceptionEventHandler(Application_ThreadException);
But, my function is not run when an exception is thrown on another
computer running WinXP SP2, and I have no idea why. Instead, the
Windows error report screen appears. Isn't the above supposed to work
no matter what? What am I doing wrong?

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends,
With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...
