Mapping a network drive programmaticall y

Rob
Hi,
Does anyone know of a good reference for mapping a network drive
programmaticall y using VB.Net?

Is it best to use API calls or is there a better way to do it?

Thanks
Rob

Hello, I am trying to find a way to create a scheduled task or service that will copy my local profile folders under "Documents and settings" to a network drive. This would allow me to restore my settings if my profile became tampered with or corrupt. Is there any sample code available out there? -Robert

All, I have a situation where a Server exists in a stand alone workgroup on an Active Directory domain. The server can access domain resources with the correct domain security information provided (for example I can map a drive from the server to a server in the AD by connecting as a different user and providing credentials that the AD can authenticate.) The challenge is that I want to access a domain network share programmatically...

Hi, I have ASP.NET application running on standalone (not part of the domain) Windows 2003. I use forms authentication for my application. The problem I have is that I need to create and read files on Windows domain network shared drives and also on shared via Samba Unix drives, which is equivalent to writing/reading to the workgroup computer. Please point, if possible, to detailed step by step description of what needs to be done. Thank...

I'm trying to find a way to add a whildcard application mapping to aspnet_isapi.dll in IIS programmatically.... been looking into IIS administrator reference but didn't find the right function to use. The equivalent GUI steps would be, open IIS, select my application->properties, app configuration, in whildcard application mapping type the path to aspnet_isapi.dll. Thanks, Jingmei Li

My problem is that I want to set file permission on a file on the network using WMI, but the folder might not be mapped which ,as far as I know, WMI needs. So my solution to this would be to map the folder in runtime, but for some reason WMI does not seem to get that I have done the mapping. I still get a "Not Found" exeption. If I check the mapping from within the code it exists. Here is a part of the code I use. Dim FileName as string...

Hello All, I have a web application that is required to copy a file from the WebServer to a remote web server (staging server to production server). I've created an application that maps the network drive, then moves a specified file to the remote server. I've imported the SDK API "WNetAddConnection2A" to map the network drive.

I am actually trying to get the UNC path of the main module of a process running from a mapped drive, and I am trying to do this from a service. The ProcessModule class only provides the full path with the mapped drive letter, but the drive letter refers to the drive mapping for the user that started the process, and cannot be resolved to a UNC path from a service running under LocalSystem. Presumably, therefore, I need to get the drive...

Sorry about that previous one. I pressed enter too early. How does one go about mapping a network drive in C#. i know you use MapNetworkDrive in scripting languages, but i'm not sure how to do it in C#. It doesnt seem like C$ would use MapNetworkDrive.

Hi all, This one's driving me up a wall! We have a small office network, Windows SBS 2003, nothing fancy - recently upgraded from an old Compaq running Novell. Back in the day we used the "F" and "G" drive letters for our main network drives. This worked wonderfully until we started using flash drives recently - replacing floppies for portable data movement. Seems that, even tho we have 2 mapped drives as "F" and "G" Windows (XP and...

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it. First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Dear forum friends, With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
