OK, I have successfully obfuscated the .exe in my bin folder. When I build
my deployment project, the obfuscated .exe is rebuilt to its original
unobfuscated state. How to I prevent this from happening so that the .msi
file has the obfuscated .exe? Build SetUp Project still insists on
rebuilding the .exe, presumably because it is a dependent of the setup
project.
What switch or setting am I missing?
Thanks,
John 2 1870
Hi,
Create a new setup wizard project (not added to a project) and add
the obfustated exe to the files to include. The wizard will automatically
detect any dependancies and add them to the project.

Thanks, Ken. That should do it!

Hello,
When I use the dotfuscator (Community Edition), all my delegate
functions no longer work.
I understand the reason why (the function in my delegate no longer
exists under the name I try to called it due to the obfuscation
process), but I don't know how to solve the problem except by excluding
the classes I delegate to...

OK, I'm trying to understand the need for this. If I understand
correctly without this anyone can reverse engineer and obtain the
source code of my application - is this correct? And this tool will
prevent this?
Why isn't this tool automatically executed by default whenever I build
my apps?
My company is building corporate applications and don't want our
source code available to anyone. I assume there is a Dotfuscator that

I have a solution with 6 or so projects, some dts dll's, a couple
images, etc. I have a working setup project that creates a nice
installation msi. Cool.
Now I want to obfuscate my .exe and my .dll's, & have the Setup project
build using the obfuscated files. I manually copy the obfuscated files
back into each project's obj/release folder. Then I build the setup
project (while not re-building anything else, of course). That seems to...

I am using Dotfuscator Community Edition to obfuscate an application for
Pocket PC written in C#. When I made the first pass with Dotfuscator, the
app threw a MissingManifestResourceException. Of course, since the app has
been obfuscated, the only information I got about what caused the error
pointed to resource aq.
The Dotfuscator listing window had WARNINGs about all the forms in my app,
so I excluded them on the 'Rename' tab and...

Guys,
What's the current situation with obfuscating, dotfuscating, encryption and
other tricks that we could do to .NET applications before deployment? It
wasn't very good a year ago, was something changed since that?

I have a dll created from an asp.net component I wrote. I want to
distribute it to other developers but I'm told it can be reverse engineered.
I read the docs on dotfuscator thinking that this could add protection.
The docs say that to run it from vs.net to run it from the external tools
menu then follow the gui. The External Tools dialog box comes up, I
highlight Dot&Fuscator Community Edition, Hit OK and nothing happens.
What am I...

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it.
First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends,
With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...
