Hello,
I'm trying to print the content of a RichTextBox from my VB 6 app.
What I want is that the CommonDialog shows up, the user selects a
printer and the content of the RichTextBox prints to the selected
printer. I'm not concerned about the text format.
What I tried is something like this
CommonDialog1.ShowPrinter

We're printing invoices using the printer function in VB6. If we print to
an IBM-compatible dot-matrix, we can use a font called "12 CPI HSD" which
works well, since we want to use 12-pitch. If we want to print to our HP
Laser, we need to know that it is a laser so we can change the font to
something comparable. Is there a way to determine what type of printer is
selected - i.e. Laser(or deskjet) or Dot Matrix?

One of my printers in my printer.devicename call returns in lower case. Is
it possible for me to change it to upper case? I am also wondering how, in
the first place, this particular printer devicename is coded in lower case?
Is there a way to change it back using VB6?
Thanks

I found out that VB.Net supports only TrueType and
OpenType fonts, in other words, it doesn't load printer
fonts (device fonts) that are associated with a printer.
I'm writing an application that will print to a POS
printer and I would like to use its printer fonts for
barcode printing. Is there a way I could load those
printer/device fonts in my code?

I want to find a printer that will accept a print-stream
from a database app JUST for time/date stamping
on inbound documents received at a law office.
The printer would have no paper tray, labels or
other paper source. It would work something like
an employee time-card machine.
Legal secretary logged in at particular workstation
running the dbase app simply clicks a button launching
procedure in app that will send print stream to the...

I've got a dot matrix printer that I need to print a line at a time to.
This is being used for an audit log on an application and every event
that occurs needs to print out right as it occurs.
I've previously had this working well in a serial communication method
where I talk directly to the printer using control codes and what not.
However, it seems that the higher ups want to be able to use a network
printer or other Windows-configured...

I checked my color printers's Printersettings.SupportsColor, which all
showed false. What is wrong that I could not use this property.
Also, what other way to detect if a printer is color printer.
TIA

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it.
First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends,
With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Hello
I'm a network technician in training and I need your help.
I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs.
The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols.
I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
