Hi all--
I'm new to Python, and was somewhat taken aback to discover that the
core language lacks some basic numerical types (e.g., single-precision
float, short integers). I realize that there are extensions that add
these types-- But what's the rationale for leaving them out? Have I
wandered into a zone in the space/time continuum where people never
have to read binary data files?

Could anyone tell me the efficient way to do this? Extracting values
from an array for a single condition (say all values greater than 'x')
using 'where' and 'compress' is simple enough.
>>> from Numeric import arange,where,compress
>>> data= arange(10)
>>> data=
>>> mask= where((data > 3),1,0)
>>> result= compress(mask,data)
>>> result

I found an quick and dirty example of a numeric text box that converts
the string to a currency mask.. Here is the code:
Public Class NumericMaskedTextBox
Inherits System.Windows.Forms.TextBox
Private Sub NumericMaskedTextBox_KeyPress(ByVal sender As Object,
ByVal e As System.Windows.Forms.KeyPressEventArgs) Handles MyBase.KeyPress
'the key press is not in the string (of numerals)
If InStr(1, "0123456789.", e.KeyChar,...

I think I am getting closer. I subclassed my own DataGridTextBoxColumn..
I copied a numeric text box keypress event into it and now I just need
to figure out how to fire the keypress event... How do you do that? The
keypress event is in the DataGridTextBoxColumn.TextBox ... I've never
done this before, it's way uncharted terratory..
Thanks,
Aaron

Hi,
I have the following loop that I think can be written to run faster in
Numeric. I am currently using Numeric.
range_va =
main.xsize= 600
main.ysize= 600
#msgva is an (600x600) Numeric array with mutiple occurrences of the
values in range_va
#sat_id is an (600x600) Numeric array with values ranging from -2 to 2

I need to have an entry field where I can specify 99,999.99 and I downloaded
and installed FlexMaskEditBox but I cannot type the '.' and get any
characters to the right of it. I'm using NUMERIC and 99g999d##.
Does anybody know how to use this or another edit mask method to force the
user to enter in the numeric value?
Thanks in advance.

I've tried to post this to the numpy google group but it seems to be
down. My migration seems to be going well. I currently have one issue
with using scipy_base.insert.
array()
array()
array(, dtype=int8)

I have tried. But now I ask. I cannot get a control to accept a numeric
entry (e.g. 0.23) without first entering a zero. I want to allow only two
decimal places. But I would like numbers less than 1 to be enter by pressing
the decimal then one or two digits. This is a normal entry method in Excel
and Foxpro, etc.. Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks in advance.

ONU (Optical Network Unit) is one of the key components for providing high-speed Internet services. Its primary function is to act as an endpoint device located at the user's premises. However, people are often confused as to whether an ONU can Work As a Router. In this blog post, we’ll explore What is ONU, What Is Router, ONU & Router’s main usage, and What is the difference between ONU and Router. Let’s take a closer look !

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends,
With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own....
Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello
I'm a network technician in training and I need your help.
I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs.
The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols.
I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
