move data from one datatable to another

Jon
hi,
I have 2 datatable, "dt1" and "dt2"
I would like to know what is the best way to move the data across?
I just want to move all the data from "dt1" which the "Category" column is
"CatA" to "dt2", so the data will no longer left in "dt1".

please help, many thanks.

hi
You can do it many way , really depend on your schema . the most strait
forward why it loop on rows and move the values one by one to the new table
( if you are going to do this operation only once I would recommend you do
it that way as it the most close to make sure of data integrity ) .

Hello, We are using DataTable to store our data that we retrieve from SQL because it provides us with ROW/COLUMN concept. Due to DataTable been memory hungary we are finding that at least 40MB of memory is been created every second which means the GC is concently running. We want to use something else that is not memory hungary and will give us the ROW/COLUMN concept (ie Multi-dimension Arrays).

Is it possible to store the data in a datatable in the hard disk instead of the memory? By default, when a datatable's being filled, the table (and data) will remain in memory. Would it be possible to save this data in another medium besides the memory? Everything would stay the same but instead of filling up the datatable by storing it in the memory, i'd be storing it somewhere in the hard drive. Thanks.

We have this huge application that's based on storing tons of data on a dataTable. The only problem we're having is that storing LOTS of data (1 million records) into a datatable will slow down the system since all this data will be stored in memory. The performance is really affected with this. Since we don't really want to redesign everything based on this datatable, are there any companies that offer a product similar to the datatable...

Is there a way to move a row in a Datalist up or down without having to re-read the data? I have a datalist which has embedded Datagrids in it. I want to allow the user to move a row up or down by just pushing a button and have the page post back with the row moved without actually re-reading the data from the database? Thanks,

Is there a fast way to move data from DataTable into double array, or do I have to spin through every record and column? I have five tables and I need to merge these tables column wise, each table will have to same amount of records but might have different amount of columns. So I need the first record form table1 and table2 and table3 and table4 and table5 to be in record 1 in my merged array or table. Second record form table1 and...

I am trying to populate a Crystal Report from data in my DataGrid. The reason for this is that I want the user to be able to change values without updating the database, but still have their report reflect the values they anticipate committing to see hypothetical totals of columns from a set of records. These records are displaying properly on my DataGrid but I'm not sure how to get Crystal Reports 10 to use as its datasource the dataset...

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it. First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
