I'm writing a python program which uses regular expressions, but I'm
totally new to regexps.
I've got Kuchling's "Regexp HOWTO", "Mastering Regular Expresions" by
Oreilly, and have access to online stuff too.
But I would like to find a mailing list or newsgroup where I can ask
questions about regexps (when things don't work), not specifically
dealing with Python. When I have Python-regexp questions, I'll post
them here of course.

i've started to read python tutorial recently.
http://python.org/doc/2.3.4/tut/tut.html
Here are some quick critique:
quick example:
If the input string is too long, they don't truncate it, but return it
unchanged; this will mess up your column lay-out but that's usually
better than the alternative, which would be lying about a value. (If
you really want truncation you can always add a slice operation, as in

Any suggestions or tips to the questions below I have been wrestling with
would be most welcome:
I have an example XSD file I have been experimenting with. Suppose a
user can select from 1 to 4 checkboxes on a web form:
Select your favorite sport(s):
(checkbox) baseball
(checkbox) football

Hi,
I have several regular expressions that I need to run against
documents. Is it possible to combine several expressions in one
expression in Regex object. So that it is faster, or will I have to
use all the expressions seperately?
Here are my regular expressions that check for valid email address and
link
Dim Expression As String =

Hi,
I am replaceing a big string using different regular expressions (see
some example at the end of the message). The problem is whenever I
apply a "replace" it makes a new copy of string and I want to avoid
that. My question here is if there is a way to pass either a memory
stream or array of "find", "replace" expressions or any other way to
avoid multiple copies of a string.
Any help will be highly appreciated

Hello,
Can anybody tell me the reason(s) why regular expressions are not built
into Python like it is the case with Ruby and I believe Perl? Like for
example in the following Ruby code
line = 'some string'
case line
when /title=(.*)/

Hi ,
I am using regular expression in C++ code, . Negation is not working in the down loaded
code. matches all characters except "a", "b",
and "c]
So I am in dilemma can negation work in C++ code.
If negation works in C++ code, can any one give me a sample code, That
will be benefit for me.

What can be the cause of the large difference between re.search and
grep?
This script takes about 5 min to run on my computer:
#!/usr/bin/env python
import re
row=""
for a in range(156000):
row+="a"

I looked today for some link that explained what Regular Expressions were available for use in a SQL WHERE clause (using the Like operator), but was unable to find anything related.
I was able to find records where the Product_Code matched "P" & "L" or "P" & 4 numeric digits by specifying "P". This works perfectly, but I feel there ought to be a way of saying "" & 3 times the last one (This is available in Posix and other systems using...

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends,
With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own....
Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

The next Access Europe User Group meeting will be on Wednesday 1 May 2024 starting at 18:00 UK time (6PM UTC+1) and finishing by 19:30 (7.30PM).
In this session, we are pleased to welcome a new presenter, Adolph Dupré who will be discussing some powerful techniques for using class modules.
He will explain when you may want to use classes instead of User Defined Types (UDT). For example, to manage the data in unbound forms.
Adolph will...
