Quick Start Samples

I am using .NET 1.1 on a computer with Windows XP Professional Service Pack
2. I installed the Samples and QuickStart Tutorials that is part of
Framework SDK v1.1. Installation went smoothly. Samples in ASP.NET work
the way that I would expect.

If I go to "http://localhost/quickstart/winforms/" and select something
like: "Control Reference>>Butt on", I display a screen that has links for "Run
Sample" and "View Source". If I click "View Source" I see the code that I
would expect. If I click "Run Sample" nothing happens.

It does show a path in the status bar at bottom of screen that begins with
file:///c:Program%20Fil es etc. If I go to the location in Windows Explorer,
I can find the exe referenced in the path and open it there. This is a work
around that I would prefer not to use. Does anyone know what trick I can use
to get the "Run Sample" link to work.

I don't know if it means anything but the file location is truncated in the
status bar. However, it is sufficiently long so that I can fill in the
missing characters and find the file.

The behavior is the same for all other "Run Sample" links in the
"http://localhost/quickstart/winforms/" hierarchy of pages.

I designed and wrote a web page for a photographer, and the website, obviously, contains may samples of his work. I have them all thumbnailed and when clicked on, opens the image alone. Although he likes the thumbnails, he's disappointed that the images don't look "elegant" when opened up singly. This is especially true in IE and other browsers where the image appears in the upper left-hand corner. Also a factor is that the website has...

I'm trying to figure out how to do an xpath that simply looks for a unique attribute name. For example, select the node where the name attribute is "test1"...regardless of which element. It would point to either of the following -- depending on which one had the attribute name (which will always be unique). //Base/Station/Measure //Base/Station/Measure/Data

Does anyone know if there is a laminated quick reference or cheat sheet available for the C# language? If so, who makes it and where can I get one? Short coding samples with explanatory comments would be good. I'm not looking for a book but rather a very condensed page or pages of sample code with short explanations.

Hello all, I selected Pathan recently to add basic XPath query support for an application. However, the site gives me an impression of "abandonware" as the latest release has been in beta for about two years now. I had tried making sense of Apache Xalan, but the material was heavily geared towards XSLT and some other acronyms i wasn't interested in ... and the sample weren't encouraging.

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it. First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
