Hello,
I have a requirement to create EAR and WAR packages without using the
integrated package building tools built into the IDE. The packages will be
created via a deployment script, preferably on a Win2k/Xp machine (less
preferably we have a solaris 9x box - however i really need to get this
running on xp or i'll be shuffling files between systems constantly)
To be honest, all i've ever used is my IDE, in this case Sun One Studio...

I'm working with VS.NET 2003 and .NET 1.1 (not SP1) on Windows XP SP1. My
application is using the Windows Installer Bootstrap. (I may have also
installed a module which detects requirements (.NET 1.1 -> MsiNetAssembly
Support.) I have a few issues and questions regarding the MSI and its
properties.
* This may be my biggest annoyance at the moment. When the installer creates
the target directory, it's setting them as read-only. When the...

Hi All, I have a doubt on WS. Initial deployment of an asp.net app which
calls a websvc includes copying all the webreferences and proxy files
(including the .cs files of the proxy)
If I build a new version of the asp.net app and don't change anything in the
underlying WS or the way it calls it, do I have to copy over all the
webreferences again to the production box? or I can just copy the .dll file
of asp.net app in the bin? (if no aspx...

I am doing setup and deployment for the first time
in .NET. I have developed an application in VB.NET which
uses a third party component. But in order for the
component to work I need to register the component first.
So I developed another applciation which does the
registering automatically. So now I have 2 exe's.
One exe registers the component and calls the actual
second exe.
When I am creating the setup I am selecting both the
exe's...

I have built a Setup file of my project and when I deploy it on another PC
is crashes fairly quickly.
I ran Dependancy Walker and found that it couldn't find the following files:
MSCORPE.DLL
MSCORSEC.DLL
c:\windows\microsoft.net\framework\v1.1.4322\ADVAPI32.DLL
c:\windows\assembly\gac\system.windows.forms\1.0.5000.0__b77a5c561934e089\GDI32.DLL

Create two ASP.NET applications. Run them on the development machine to
make sure they are error free.
Publish the fist application to the root of a remote webspace.
Call a page and see that it operates correctly.
Publish the second application to the root of the same remote webspace.
Permit it to overwrite existing files.
Call a page and notice that it waits forever.

Hey all, we have a project that we would like to use ClickOnce
deployment on, and although it all seems straightforward we are having a
few issues concerning SQL Server Express and clickonce. We are using C#
for our development language, and the application itself runs fine until
we get to a part that accesses the database. When it tries to hit the
database it bombs saying it can't find it. We even created a connection
string that...

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own....
Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello
I'm a network technician in training and I need your help.
I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs.
The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols.
I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
