I've got the following code as part of a C# web form but am having problems
calling a command. I create a dataset and put some data on the screen. This
works fine. (relevant sample below)
foreach (DataRow row in ds.Tables.Rows)
{
detailsbtn = new LinkButton();
//Assign a unique ID to the details control
detailsbtn.ID = "details" + row.ToString().Replace("-",
String.Empty);

Hi all.
I felt frustrated when developing an 'UserControl' derivated from
textBox, because sequence event (and Validate event) seems to fail.
I Always thought my code was wrong. But after trying the UserControl a
lot of hours I have the feeling that c# (or .Net) fails.
Thus, I have developed a simple program with 3 textBox, 1 Botton and 1
ListBox (for showing results) which fire OnEnter, OnGotFocus,

I have a 'Controller' object that manages the interaction between its two
children: a Form and a DataObject. I've written specialized code in the
Controller to control how the Form updates the DataObject and vice-versa.
Normally after the user changes the value of a control, the DataObject is
instantaneously updated (via code in the Controller). But I'm having
problems when say the user enters text into a textbox and then immediately...

I have some dynamic controls (LinkButton) that I am adding to my pages.
When the link button is clicked, I am getting an ID from the
LinkButton.CommandArguement value.
I am then using that ID to recreate some dynamic LinkButtons.
My problems is I need the CommandEventHandler to fire before the controls
are build so I can grab the ID that I will use to build the other
Linkbuttons.

I have a web form with a button and a placeholder, the button adds a user
control to the placeholder (and removes any existing controls). The user
control contains a single button. I have done all the usual stuff of
recreating the usercontrol in the Page Init event.
The 'failure' sequence is as follows:
- select web form button to display the user control
- select user control button, event fires
- select web form button to display...

I have a form which I want to show modally; it's a fairly old form
that's been ported up several versions of VB, and I'd like to keep its
rewriting to a minimum. Basically, it is used in this sequence:
1. The form is shown. The Form_Load event does some initialization.
2. Further parameters are passed to this form.
3. We actually need this form to be modal, so we hide it and show it
again modally.
4. Stuff happens on the form based...

Is there any way to control the event sequence so that it only show

Hi,
I have a form with a continuous subform. I am working on putting
validations in for the subform's required fields. Being somewhat new
to Access (or rather, an antiquated mainframe programmer), I finally
figured out that the place to put the validations is in
Form_BeforeUpdate.
I have 2 questions:
1) once I determine there is an error and display a message box with

In diagnosing a problem, I noted that a button_click event gets run only
after the page Page_Load event of the post back. (VS 2003, ASPNET 1.1, C#)
Can this be correct? I'm trying to set session variables in a Button_Click
event which determines how the page is supposed to appear in the PostBack,
so of course it fails.
Where should I put my code so that the session variables are re-set before
the PostBack?

I'm just wondering if this would work. Please note that I'm not asking *how*
to raise events. I'm clear on that. What I'm not clear on is the sequence in
which events are raised by custom controls relative to the hosting Page, and
therefore if the following specific arrangement would even work.
What I'm looking to do is dynamically insert multiple custom composite Web
server controls onto a blank Page. This is no problem, I know how to do...

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends,
With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own....
Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

The next Access Europe User Group meeting will be on Wednesday 1 May 2024 starting at 18:00 UK time (6PM UTC+1) and finishing by 19:30 (7.30PM).
In this session, we are pleased to welcome a new presenter, Adolph Dupré who will be discussing some powerful techniques for using class modules.
He will explain when you may want to use classes instead of User Defined Types (UDT). For example, to manage the data in unbound forms.
Adolph will...
