How do I scroll to the bottom of RichTextBox

From my FAQ (<URL:http://dotnet.mvps.org/dotnet/faqs/>):

When using a RichTextBox control for displaying logging information, it is
useful to scroll the recently added line into view. There are two ways to
accomplish this:

\\\
Private Const WM_VSCROLL As Int32 = &H115
Private Const SB_BOTTOM As Int32 = 7

Private Declare Auto Function SendMessage Lib "user32.dll " ( _
ByVal hwnd As IntPtr, _
ByVal wMsg As Int32, _
ByVal wParam As Int32, _
ByVal lParam As Int32 _
) As Int32

Private Sub AddLine(ByVal Destination As RichTextBox, ByVal Text As String)
With Destination
.AppendText(Tex t & ControlChars.Ne wLine)
SendMessage(Des tination.Handle , WM_VSCROLL, SB_BOTTOM, 0)
End With
End Sub
///

- or -

\\\
Dim ctr As Control = Me.ActiveContro l
With Me.RichTextBox1
.Focus()
.AppendText("He llo World!")
.ScrollToCaret( )
End With
ctr.Focus()
///

The 2nd solution has a side-effect: Setting the focus to the
RichTextBox control may raise validation events.

I searched high and low for an answer on how to auto scroll a richtextbox and now I finally have it. Since it took me a while to get a good efficient way of doing it that didn't require focus to the control or the scrolltocaret method I decided that it would be worth posting to anyone who might have similar concerns. For the record this works well in an environment where you cannot have focus going to the richtextbox....such as a chat...

Hi, When a RichTextBox control doesn't have focus, it DOES NOT scroll to the last line that is added; however, if it does have focus, it WILL scroll to the last line added. I want to stop and start this behavior at will. When I stop the behavior, this will give users a chance to examine the text that is at the top of the document while new text is being added at the bottom. I have tried inheriting from the RichTextBox control and...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs.
