CDO exception with Web.Mail

I get the following exception only on one system (dev system) and not on any
others... what could cause this?! I can access the SMTP server just fine in
E-Mail applications on the machine...
See the end of this message for details on invoking
just-in-time (JIT) debugging instead of this dialog box.

************** JIT Debugging **************
To enable just in time (JIT) debugging, the config file for this
application or machine (machine.config ) must have the
jitDebugging value set in the system.windows. forms section.
The application must also be compiled with debugging
enabled.

For example:

<configuratio n>
<system.windows .forms jitDebugging="t rue" />
</configuration>

When JIT debugging is enabled, any unhandled exception
will be sent to the JIT debugger registered on the machine
rather than being handled by this dialog.

Hi Brian,

You may try to run the sample code below to see if the problem persists,
also you may try to send mail using the outlook express directly with the
SMTP server you use in your code to see if we can send the mail
successfully.

I am having exception-handling and stability problems with .NET. I will have a block of managed code inside try...catch and will still get a generic ..NET exception box that will tell me which assemblies are loaded before shutting down. In one case, some of my DB-accessing code didn't handle a NULL value properly. But try...catch wouldn't catch the exception and keep going. I'd just get the error message and then it would shut the...

I am wondering if there are some best practices for determining a strategy for using try/catch blocks within an application. My current thoughts are: 1. The code the initiates any high-level user tasks should always be included in a try/catch block that actually handles any exceptions that occur (log the exception, display a message box, etc.). 2. Low-level operations that are used to carry out the high level tasks

In VB.NET, I'm getting the exception "failure sending mail". I'm running VS 2005 on XP Home. This is a new install on a new PC. I've never had email problems with VS 2003, and there I could modify the SMTP settings in IIS. But with this install, there is no IIS (at least I can't find an IIS with MMC browsing the snap-ins). I suspect that is part of the problem but I don't know the solution and I have to be able to test sending email...
