I'm new to C# and threading, so hopefully this is a simple newbie question.
I have a form that is supposed to listen for network traffic on a given port
and decode and display any interesting traffic it sees. To do this I've
launched a separate thread to do the listening.
When I run my form it seems to work fine, but when I close the form the
thread is not being terminated and Task Manager shows the application process
still...

I have written an application that lives in the systray but when I try
to close windows or logout it does not close my application and
therefore prevents windows from shutting down or logging me out. It is
essential that I solve this problem but I have run out of ideas can
anyone help (please!)
The application starts in Start.cs which kicks off the Systray form
using this call:
Application.Run(new Systray());

Hi,
I am creating a windows form, and when a specified event occurs
(button click), I am hiding the windows form and opening a new windows
form. When opening the new windows form and closing it, the main
windows form would still be running in the background and never
terminating. How can I terminate the old window form from the new
created window.
I hope someone out there understands my problem.

I have a C# Windows Service running as the NetworkService account because it
needs to access a network share.
As part of the service's initialization, I want the service to terminate, if
an unrecoverable error occurs. When that case occurs, I create a
ServiceController object and call the Stop() method.
However - I get an exception thrown saying access denied. If I switch to
using the LocalService account it works fine, but I lose...

Hi there,
I have a third party dll that I need to initialize and terminate once
and only once per application. By application I mean a physical exe and not
the HTTP application. This is fine when I am creating a windows application
as I can use the static void main function to do the initialization and
termination. But my question is where would I do this in an ASP.NET web app.
I tried the application_start and application_end events....

Right now I'm using exit(0) to terminate my program. My
program is a console .exe application. After the "exit(0)" line of
code is encountered, the console application waits for an enter press,
before terminating. I want it to terminate completely without having
to press enter manually. Anybody know what I might be missing here ?

Hi all,
Consider this scenario, where in I need to use subprocess to execute a
command like 'ping 127.0.0.1' which will have a continuous non-
terminating output in Linux.
# code

How should I handle these kind of commands (ping 127.0.0.1) with

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own....
Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello
I'm a network technician in training and I need your help.
I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs.
The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols.
I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
