I am having a major issue with strongly typed datasets. I have been
using the Server Explorer in VS.net 2003 to add tables from the
database into a DataSet. I cannot access the rows or columns of some
of the DataTables. What can I do to fix this, or why can I not do
this? I cannot find any information on the topic.
Here is an example:
TypedDataSet ds = new TypedDataSet();
// fill tables

I have a strongly typed dataset that returns two tables - "items" and
"itemdetails". In the strongly-typed dataset designer, I've created a link
(relationship) between the two tables based on a foreign key.
I want to put them into a nested repeater, but I'm having problems finding a
"nice" way of doing it.
Can someone please point me in the direction of a tutorial or best practice
to achieve this?

Which would be the better solution?
1.) 20 Tables In 1 DataSet, no relationships.
2.) 20 DataSet's with 1 Table each.
The tables have no relationship with each other (although they represent data
retrieved from normalized databases, they are normalized themselves.
Basically, if I have 20 tables in a single typed dataset, and I create the

I've used datatables and datasets before. Datasets being able to hold
more than one table and datatables being only one table. My mind keeps
coming up with recordsets. I can't remember how they fit into the picture.
I'm going to be reading some records from a table in a sql db.

I am creating an application that will have around 20 web forms. Should
I create only one strongly typed dataset that includes all the
DataTables required for all the forms or should I create one strongly
typed dataset per web form that includes only the DataTables required
by that specific form?

I've always used untyped datasets. In a Microsoft course, it walks through
creating typed datasets and harps on the benefits. It has you drag all
these things around ..wizard, wizard, wizard... code gen, code gen, code
gen.
What's at the end looks slick, but then there's a ton of generated code that
I'm going to have to maintain now.
I.e. I like typing things myself (don't like wizards) so I can know exactly
what I've done.

Hi there,
I have a question that has been raised on how an application should handle
the data that is travelling through a three-layered application.
Our data is going to be handled by Dataset object(s), and the data to be
handled is as follows:
We have N Companies with data, which is distributed among 1 table with all
the data that is similar on all Companies, and 1 table for each Company that
has specific data to store, so in case we...

I'm trying to decide if it is better to use typed datasets or business
objects, so I would appreciate any thoughts from someone with more
experience.
When I use a business object to populate a gridview, for example, I loop
through a datareader, populating an array list with instances of a custom
class in the middle tier, and then send the array list up to the
presentation layer and bind the gridview to it.
If I use a typed dataset, I...

I made a database (http://users.skynet.be/fc042048/Pizza.jpg) in Access
which I want to use via typed datasets on my website. Problem is, if I i.e.
want to edit the datatable "Pizza" in a gridview, I get the error "Can't
delete or update the record because there are related records in the
datatable "PizzaOnderdelen" (means Pizza Ingredients).
What do I have to do to update the table ? Do I need to adjust my dataset
file (contains only the...

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it.
First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Dear forum friends,
With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

The next Access Europe User Group meeting will be on Wednesday 1 May 2024 starting at 18:00 UK time (6PM UTC+1) and finishing by 19:30 (7.30PM).
In this session, we are pleased to welcome a new presenter, Adolph Dupré who will be discussing some powerful techniques for using class modules.
He will explain when you may want to use classes instead of User Defined Types (UDT). For example, to manage the data in unbound forms.
Adolph will...

Hello
I'm a network technician in training and I need your help.
I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs.
The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols.
I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
