I have developed an XML-based tracelistener which uses a booleanswitch
(enable/disable), a general traceswitch (set the tracelevel) and a
userspecific traceswitch (set the tracelevel for a particular user).
Those switches are set in app.config
Now I am looking for a way to know when these settings in my app.config have
changed (for example, when changing the tracelevel) at runtime, so that my
application can use the new settings.
When...

The MSDN documentation says that if you dont compile with
DEBUG or TRACE flags then you cant use the BooleanSwitch
object. is this true?
If i have a BooleanSwitch wrapping a conditional
statement and build for RELEASE, and then turn my
BooleanSwitch on to true, will the condition execute? or
only if i build with the TRACE compiler switch?
thanks,

Hello,
I have a question about trace as MSDN seems confuses me.(http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/default.asp?url=/library/en-us/cpref/html/frlrfSystemDiagnosticsTraceClassTopic.asp).
My answer to my question is NO, as it's decided at compile time.
Basically, from what I understand is if you define the Trace tag(by default it is defined in Release build) and you build the project( in release build), those lines containing the Trace...

Hi,
I have a problem using the XmlSerializer when I switch between two
databases (SQL Server and Oracle). Very puzzling!
If my app is set for SQL Server it works fine. Basically the app has
an object model which is serialized (using the XmlSerializer) and
stored in a database table.
If I then change the configuration to Oracle the following line of code

Hi there - I am developing a general library which allows programs to access
our server product.
I am using the System.Configuration.Trace and
System.Configuration.BooleanSwitch classes for logging at runtime in my
library. When developing a console/windows application a user simply has to
set up a few switches and a trace listener within the application config
file in order to enable logging in the library:
<system.diagnostics>

Ok, its a friday, I'm at work and I cant get this to work:
I have 3 listboxes on one tab control page. when i select an item in
listbox1 i want whatever is selected on the other 2 listboxes
unselected. when listbox2 is selected, 1 and 3 should have no items
selected and the same with listbox 3.
Sounds simple... should be simple! I have tried
listbox.clearselected(), listbox.selectedindex=-1 and beating it
with a large stick. But so...

Hi!
I have a strange error in a console application that is hosted by IIS 5.0
and invokes a web service hosted on the same machine.
A request form the web comes in and it is dispatched to a service class
which uses a helper class to create an instance of the automatically
generated webservice proxy class. The instance creation fails on this row:

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it.
First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Dear forum friends,
With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own....
Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello
I'm a network technician in training and I need your help.
I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs.
The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols.
I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
