Hi, I have a problem with using *.jar files with Tomcat 5.0.16. Hi, I just wrote a windows service application to call a function of another object periodically. I used System.Server.Timer and I found that it works fine within the first 2 hours but the onTimer event wouldn't be raised again after few hours. I checked the msdn and Microsoft claims that it is a bug in their .net framework as follows: http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;842793

I have created a simple Windows service in VB.Net which installs fine using InstallUtil.exe to install it to, for example "c:\test", or "c:\Windows\YellowBanana", but if I install it to "c:\Program Files\Test" it installs ok but will not start (no useful error message is given other than the usual annoying suggestion about having sufficient privileges). The problem only seems to happen with spaces, not long filenames. I have found a...

Hi, I'm hoping that someone will be able to help out with a problem we are having. We have a web service built in .Net 1.1. We are trying to call it from PHP4 using the NuSOAP add on. It seems the SOAP it is sending as the request isn't what the web service is looking for. Here is what my PHP4 NuSOAP client is sending: <?xml version="1.0" encoding="ISO-8859-1"?>

Hi all, I've got a Front End / Back End database that was working just fine. One day i opened the FE to find that if I tried to open one of the linked tables from the database window, nothing happened (hourglass for about 2 seconds then nothing). I tried relinking the tables and got the same response. (Access even completely bombed out once with a Dr Watson failure).

I am fairly new to VB.Net and am having a curious problem. I have an entry dialog form called from a main form. The calling form needs to check the DialogResult field for an OK response. In my button service in the dialog form, I have: Private Sub btnSave_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, _ ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles btnSave.Click

I've been using urllib2 to try and automate logging into the google adsense page. I want to download the csv report files, so that I can do some analysis of them. However, I don't really know how web forms work, and the examples on the python.org/doc site aren't really helpful. I've found working scripted login code using javascript, but I don't speak javascript. These are the relevant functions:

Hi, I am using WMI to gather information about different computers (using win2K and win 2K3), checking common classes and also WMI load balance. My application runs every 1 minute and reports the status of the machines. Upon we follow the .NET object lifetime recommendations the application is constantly consuming more memory! The problem is on the ManagementObjectSearch, upon we Dispose the object it seems that is not releasing the...

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it. First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
