Hi
I have a stepper motor and PCB from www.milinst.com and have connect the
device to my PC through the serial. When using the downloadable application
for the device, I receive a comms error.
Does anyone know how to send data to the device to get the motor to turn?

Hi,
What is the error? Do you have the source code? I don't have specific
device, so I cannot offer any advice without more information.

I'm working on a C# Windows Service that needs to monitor serial port
communication. Because the .Net framework does not include support for
serial communications, I've decided to use the Microsoft Communication
Control (MSCommLib) that comes with Visual Studio 6. It seems easy to use
and works well enough for me within the context of a Windows Application.
Because I need the serial ports to be monitored 24/7, however, a Windows
Service...

Hi
I'm trying to open a vb6 project in vb.net which uses the mscomm component.
When running the vb upgrade wizard in vb.net, an error is raised:
Upgrade failed, unable to load reerenced component
mscomm32.ocx (1.1.0)
You need to install this component before you upgrade the project.
Does anyone know how to install the mscomm component.

I've been building custom web controls in C# with VS2005. Currently I'm
looking into adding design-time functionality and have reached a point where
I need to generate code in the page the custom control is on. Enter the
CodeDomSerializer class.
I've found several examples creating Designer Serializers, nearly all of
them for windows forms, but a few claiming to work for Web Controls;
however, I have been singularly unsuccessful at...

I'm a newbie that is still struggling with OOP concepts & how to make things
work they way I want. Using Visual C# Express, I have a form in which I added
a user control to display a graph, based upon data received via the serial
port. If I run the serial port in the main form code, I can get data and,
using public properties of the user control, transfer the data to be shown on
the graph. However, I am trying to add a feature that will...

Hi all,
I'm fairly new to VB.NET but have more experience with VB6 and earlier.
I'm trying to create an application that will move files from one
folder to another. Here is the scenario.
I have a folder on my local hard drive that has about 1400 .XLS files.
These files are all named with the same pattern of call#_Serial #.xls.
I need to move these to a folder on the network. the network folder
structure is based on serial #. So what I...

Now I develop a finger print management system which is based on B/S.When
users click a button in the web pages, a device connected to the COM1 serial

Now I wrote the code which is in charge of serial communication in the

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends,
With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own....
Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
