Kenneth,
In addition to Jorge's comments:

Integer.Parse is a Framework function.

CInt is a long time VB "intrinsic" function.

Integer.Parse will only parse strings, while CInt will convert any type to
an Integer, if that conversion is defined.

Hope this helps
Jay

Dear Developers, Firstly, I'm not sure where this post should go so I apologise if this is in the wrong group or area. I'm currently interviewing for a vb.net developer who doesn't mind prototyping the client requirements using MS Access. We've not had much luck in finding many suitable people through agencies and those that I have interviewed are not scoring very high on my little test which is the reason for my post. Please have a...

The code below will pass a credit card as being valid if it contains dashes, spaces, and also alphanumerics. How can I check for only dashes and spaces and return invalid when the user inputs alphanumerics? Thanks. Sub ValidateCCNumber( s As Object, e As ServerValidateEventArgs ) Dim intCounter As Integer Dim strCCNumber As String Dim blnIsEven As Boolean = False

I am trying to determine the age of a person based on two dates, the Date of Birth and Today(). I have a function that does this but it is kludgey and is giving me an age that is pretty close but only because I have figured into the equation (manually) the approximate number of leap years. The code reads: Dim TS As New TimeSpan Dim NumDays As Integer

Hi I have a question about architecting solutions.. I have a part of a project which requires me to track person details (name, addresses, etc... Should I be creating Person objects, Address objects etc as Business layer classes and then have an data access layer which actually save / updates / delete to and from the DB.. If so, and bearing in mind the 'easiest' way to pass data between the layers would be with a dataset - should my BL...

Hi all- I am a former VB6 programmer and new at C# and I have a question dealing with converting some code from VB6 to C#. The code is below and essentially, what it does is gets data from a SQL Server database and parses some of the data and puts the parsed data into a text field. I omitted a some of the code and left the data parsing part of it, which is what my question is about. Exactly what the code below does is gets data from SQL...

Hi group, it's been a long time since the last time I've been here but I have a question. I'm working with timespan.parse for calculating a duration, I have to add strings which are in the following format 15:36:12 ==Hours, minutes, seconds but sometimes there is a string like 55:26:32 ==which is correct cause the production machine was busy for 55 hours, but the timespan.parse crashes on this value because it expects 2.7:26:32. I've...

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it. First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
