WebRequest from VB.Net Client Application

Hello,

when I try to execute a web request from a .NET client
application through a proxy, the server returns a 401 (not
authorized) error message. It works when i bypass the
proxy or when i try the same from the Internet Explorer.
Any idea how to solve this problem. I tried already
several code variants :

Dim wrGETURL As System.Net.WebR equest
wrGETURL = System.Net.WebR equest.Create
("Http://www...../TestFile.log")
wrGETURL.Proxy = System.Net.WebP roxy.GetDefault Proxy()
wrGETURL.GetRes ponse.ContentLe ngth

or instead
wrGETURL.Proxy = System.Net.WebP roxy.GetDefault Proxy()

Dim myProxy As New System.Net.WebP roxy(myProxy,80 )
myProxy.BypassP roxyOnLocal = True
wrGETURL.Proxy = myProxy

or additional
myProxy.Credent ials =
System.Net.Cred entialCache.Def aultCredentials

Please help, I've scoured the web but cannot find an answer to this! I want to use WebRequest to get the contents of a web page. The trouble is, the page require you to go to a login page (using ASP - not ASP.NET), and enter a username and password to get in. How do I use WebRequest in this situation? I cannot find any way of supplying the username and password. The '.Credentials' does not work because that is only for Windows...

Hello, First I want to refer to the problem "WebRequest : execute a button" of a few days ago. The way I solved it, I loose my session, and as a consequence my session variables. I don't want to keep those variables, as an alternative, as ViewState variables because I don't want to transfer to many hidden fields. This is the code I use :

Hi I was wondering if it's possible to use the WebRequest class to access a file on windows shared folder with authentication? If yes, what would the syntax be? I've tried to look this up in the references available but to no avail Also, is it safer (better practise) in an LAN environment to use HTTP requests to access shared files (via ASP.NET) rather than UNC file shares TIA Regards John

Hello, I am trying to get a response for an .aspx page in my current project (same virtual directory) by using WebRequest.GetResponse but I keep getting a exception with "500 Internal server error" in the exception message. I am able to do this fine with another .aspx page that has no code-behind. The page that has code-behind throws the exception. What I am doing is getting the .aspx response, reading the stream, replacing

Hi, I am new to using a web resource which is not a webservice and I am spinning my wheels with the webrequest class. I am trying to interact with a URI that has been given to me. It is say www.bloggs.com/cgi-bin/thin-client" My app gathers data and is supposed to pass this data to the URI which will then respond with a result. So some real basic questions. 1)They have given me a user name and password to use.

Hello! First, I'm sorry because of my english... I'll try to be understandable! I've got a strange problem using .NET 2003 C# and I haven't figured it out for a long time. I'm implementing an application to download images using System.NET classes (webclient, webrequest) asynchronously behind proxy server. The reading method works like this: System.Net.WebClient client=new System.Net.WebClient();

Hell there, I tried to post a reply to a message thread created back in July 2006 regarding the override of WebRequest, Closed Conenctions and setting KeepAlive to false,but it's been over 60 days so I am creating a new topci in the hopes of an answer to a related issue. GhostAK suggested some vb.net code that should work to allow the setting of the Keep Alive property. yes, I am having connection close errors. The code suggested...

I am having trouble with a C# proxy page I am writing which allows me to do cross domain AJAX calls with Javascript. The problem is with certain pages that contain pound signs £ that are not HTML encoded in the source that I am trying to extract with the WebRequest and WebResponse objects. The page is using a charset of iso-8859-1 which I think is the problem as my object is using UTF-8. I have created two test pages one using UTF-8 the...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends, With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
