Hi,
I am trying to create an installer for my web application. So I added a
web setup project to my solution (I am using VS.NET 2003). Been playing
around with it since then and it basically works.
Now, I am wondering if there is any way to change the directory that
the installer installs the files to. I want to be able to put my files
in a specified directory (user specified is good, but i don't mind
hardcoding the path either) and...

I am developing a windows application with Visual Studio 2003 using C#. The
application is complete so naturally I went to create a setup package. I
added a setup project to the solution and I went through the appropriate
steps in attaching the solution dependencies. After completing the setup
package, I attempted to install the application on a co-worker's computer.
Usually, the installation consist of several screens which directs the...

Hi Folks
Hopefully a simple question...
Using Visual Studio 2005, what is the easiest way to create a setup for
my Windows Forms App that can copy a large number of required PDF files
to the installation directory when the setup is executed.
I have tried manually adding the PDFs to the Setup Project but it then
takes absolutely ages to build.

Hi,
I have created a setup project which installs a Network service. In the
installer, I had to set some security permissions so that Network
service can access my installation folder. Since, only administrators
can change the access list, I need to specify that admin privileges are
required to run the installer.
Is there a way to ask for admin password(if he is not an admin), find
out whether the account is valid, and exit if it is...

I want to deploy a service with a windows app and the setup program
must conform to the Vista certification requirements. Can that be
done with the standard .net setup project? Assuming cost is an

what else is available?

My C# code is I18N'ed by appropriately naming and editing .resx files. At
execution time, it works.
My C++ code is somewhat I18N'ed. When I put UI code in C++ I use .rc files.
When I link to a third party's DLLs I get what they supplied. When I link
to Microsoft's CRT and MFC, um... Well anyway, at execution time it seems
to be working, except when a third party's DLL has a secret dependency.
But what about the installer? A Visual...

Hi,
We have created a setup project for an app in MS VS .Net with Windows
Installer Bootstrapper selected. When installing the app, we wonder if it is
possible to start the installation using setup.exe without being asked the
question to either start the installation or to quit the installation (the
first dialog that appears)? Can it be done in Orca or in another tool and how?
(We know that this behaviour is accomplished when we start...

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it.
First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Hello
I'm a network technician in training and I need your help.
I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs.
The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols.
I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
