StandardPrintCo ntroller spawns EventLog Warnings

Running application uses StandardPrintCo ntroller to print a file on one
local and two network printers. When it prints to the network printers, the
SYSTEM writes ("Printer Driver ... was added or updated. Files: RASDD.DLL,
RASDDUI.DLL,... ") warnings to the System Event Log. Does anyone know how to
address this other than by maybe making sure the network printers have
latest/greatest drivers installed?

Thanks for your help!

I am trying to read the EventLog of different servers on the network. If I run the script in a command line, it works well. But when I try to put the script into the Web server (IIS in Windows 2000) and run from a web browser, it works with my local machine only. I have the following error when I try to access any remote server: CGI Error The specified CGI application misbehaved by not returning a complete set of HTTP headers. The...

Hello, I have created a a logging mechanism, that writes mesages to a custom event log. On each check it verifies whether the requested source is registered to the "IPS" log. If not, it changes the registration. My problem is that *some* messages still goto the application log, even with this code. I have stepped through the code and verified that the logName variable actually contains the value "IPS", but it still does not go into my...

Our app uses the EventLog class to write errors to the event log. Sometimes the app runs unattended for days, and if errors are occurring, the event log can fill up, causing the app to have no way of reporting further errors. The user needs to manually clear the event log in this case To prevent this, we would like to specify the "Overwrite as needed" option on our event log to make it circular. This option is available as a checkbox on...

Hello, I am writing a service program that writes to a custom EventLog. I would like the two classes used in the service to write messages to the same log ideally using a different Source name for filtering etc. So far I am having little luck. I feel that I have been through the documentation extensively but am chasing my tail. It seems like it should be as simple as .CreateEventSource in each class I want to write to the custom log,...

hi ..Net 2.0 I've created the code below and think I've executed it. After I thought I've executed it I checked in EventLog on the computer (win2k3) and no entry was added. This could mean 2 things: - There are some logical errors in my code - The code wasn't actually executed

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
