access tables from different server

137 100+
dear all,
i have two servers and my software is in one of those servers. both the servers have databases : db1 and db2.

i tried the following query :
Expand|Select|Wrap|Line Numbers
  1. select * from server2.db2.dbo.tblname
from server1. it shows the error

Msg 7202, Level 11, State 2, Line 1

Could not find server 'server2' in sysservers. Execute sp_addlinkedserver to add the server to sysservers.

what shall i do.i need both servers.

TIA
