Try the sp_help function in Query analyser, or possibly just the Object
Browser (SQL 2000) will give you the required information.

This will return the list of columns with description. If you need the
complete list of columns you should join it with syscolumns table.

select objname as ColName,
value as Description
from ::fn_listextendedproperty(NULL, 'user', 'dbo', 'table',
YourTableName, 'column', null)
