93 New Member
I'm trying to install SQL2008.Adventu reWorks_All_Dat abases.x86.msi, but whether I try to install "Sample Files" or "Create AdventureWorks DBs", I keep getting the following error:

PrepInstance() failed for MSSQL$SQLEXPRES S.
The following features are missing: Full Text Search

I already have installed on my PC:
Microsoft SQL Server 2008
Microsoft SQL Server 2008 Browser
Microsoft SQL Server 2008 Management Objects
Microsoft SQL Server 2008 Native Client
Microsoft SQL Server 2008 Setup Support File (English)
Microsoft SQL Server Compact 3.5 SP1 Design Tools English
Microsoft SQL Server Compact 3.5 English
Microsoft SQL Server Database Publishing Wizard 1.3
Microsoft SQL Server VSS Writer

Any suggestions?

Over the last few days, I reinstalled Win2kSP2 to a spare harddrive I had just swapped into my Fujitsu LifeBook P1120 (long story <wink>). Subsequently, I DL'ed the newest Python alpha (2.4a2), and when trying to install it, I immediately got this error: This installation package cannot be installed by the Windows Installer service. You must install a Windows service pack that contains a newer version of the Windows Installer service.

I created the websetup and built the MSI, have the bundled version. Copied to webserver and ran Websetup.msi. Said I had to remove old version, which I did, then reran WebSetup.msi and keeps giving me this error. "The installer was interrupted...

Hello I am trying to use the SqlDaaSource wizard to populate my GridView. If I let the wizard generate the SQL, then I get an "Invalid object name" error - the obbject being the table name (Prodcuts) in my case. This error happens because the AdventureWorks tables belong to Schemas that the SqlDataSoruce wizard ignores i.e. does not generate the correct SQL. Anyone have a fix for this problem?

Hi, I've been trying for 2 hours to install in silent mode a DB2 9 runtime client. Why didn't you make this process as simple as for the CLIENT install ? It is not the same setup command, you can download a setup from the support site, but unfortunately, the setup does not allow you to create a response file. Neither the db2rspgn utility, after the graphical setup has been done. Very disapointing ... maybe can someone highlight the...

I have a friend who's small company is on VB6 and SQL2000 for their apps. They would like to know what arguments (high level) there are for upgrading to the current version/platform of VB.NET 2008 and SQL2008. Saying "newer/better/faster" isn't a strong enough argument when the counter to that could be "if it ain't broke, don't fix it". Does anyone have a few bullet points that make an argument for upgrading? Thanks.

After some initial problems with the prerequisite installation of SQL Server Express with Advanced Features, I tried to install AdventureWorks sample databases. Upon launch of the installer, Windows cited Microsoft as AdventureWorks' publisher. I confirmed to the installer that it should run. A dialog box then came up saying something to the effect of "Please wait while we check for disk usage." The system slowed considerably. This went on...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
