Backup transaction logs and replication simultaneously

Is there any problem with implementating some kind of replication and
backing up transaction logs at the same time? SQL Server 2000 Standard
Edition

The server is configured to back up log files regularly, with the
presence
of a(New) Disaster recovery server and with an inability for
standby(Standar d Edition)I am planning to implement some kind of
replication hopefully still backing up the transaction logs to enable
a point in time recovery.

Thanks in advance for your great ideas

Check out "Backing Up and Restoring Replication Databases" in Books Online -
it covers each type of replication, as well as how to combine replication
with log shipping.

If that doesn't give you enough information, you could post in
microsoft.publi c.sqlserver.rep lication - you might get a more detailed
answer there.

Hello All We intend to replicate a database in order to have it as a near immediate standby in case of the failure of the main server. Is this the best solution for disaster recovery? We are currently testing our replication plan. When we set up the subscriber, a snapshot of the publisher is created and this takes hours. Is there a better way?

I have about 20 databases in a single MySQL instance running 4.0.21 on RHEL3. I have a healthy mix of MyISAM and InnoDB tables. Howerver these two types do not mix within a single database. A read/write master MySQL server replicates to five read-only database servers for load distribution of the web traffic. I need to come up with a backup strategy that supports the following objectives... (1) Minimum down time during backups, if any....

Hi, I've a question regarding the transaction-log backup on SQL-Server 2000. We have implemented a low cost replication. Every evening we make a full backup and beginning at 7 to 18 we make transaction-log backups which are restore (no recovery) to the "standby-server". The full backups are restored every evening. Today i noticed something strange. Yesterday the last transaction log was made at 19 and afterwards applied to the standby...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
