Any help would be greatly appreciated.
My problem is that I need to set up a backup SQL Server 2000 machine
which can be used in case of a failure to my primary. All databases
(30 as of now) must be an up to the minute exact copy of production
and include most recent changes in data as well as any structure
changes (Tables, Views, SP's, Triggers, Users . . etc).
When I tried this using Transactional Replication, the replication...

I am having a problem with a regular backup of an SQL Server (MSDE
2000) database to a local drive. I initiate the backup once a week, by
issuing the required T-SQL, via ADO. In this case, the T-SQL is:
BACKUP DATABASE GPRS_Dimensioning_Archive TO local_backup WITH
RETAINDAYS=21, NAME='GDA_20040706'
Note that "local_backup" is a file sitting on the same physical drive
as the database itself, and has > 80 GB free. It is not a RAID...

The company I work for has been running Access 2000 on a Windows NT
server with Opportunistic Locking turned off on the server without
issue for almost a year. We have just switched to a Windows 2000 file
server with service pack 3 installed and are now experiencing at least
2 corruptions a day. The registry setting for Opportunistic Locking
that was on the Windows NT server does not exist on the Windows 2000
server so we can not make the...

Do you guys have any idea if web hosting companies usually give access to
SQL Server databases through Enterprise Manager?
I used to have have access to my DB through EE with my previous provider and
now the more I am looking into offers on the net the less I can see this
feature specified.
What can I do without EE to backup my database in a completely automated
way? Can I assume SQLDMO will always be available so that I can backup the...

I am a DB2 DBA that has been asked to become familiar enough with SQL
Server in order to become actively involved in its installation,
implementation, and to review database backup/recovery procedures. SQL
Server will be used by a vendor packaged application.
The problem is that we are awaiting word on whether it will be SQL
Server 2000 or 2005 we will be working with. I have been told that
there are considerable differences between the...

Hello,
I'm trying to make a daily database backup. When executing "mysqldump -
uxxx -pxxx database /home/backup/ddbb.sql -q &" the httpd server
gets blocked and my site is "offline" for 30 minutes. I also tried
using mysqlhotcopy, but with no success since it fails with error:
"DBD::mysql::db do failed: Not unique table/alias: 'comments' at /usr/
bin/mysqlhotcopy line 466."
I'd like to make a daily MySQL backup, but without freezing...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends,
With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies.
