I have a question concerning the extents from a database.
The database stops occasionaly with an ORA-01632 error. Increasing the
max_extent from the individual index, named in the error is keeping
things going, but there should be a way solving this in a more
structural manner. There is plenty of (table)space on the system. When
I query dba_tablespaces for our tablespace it gives a
next_extent=40969 and a max_extent=2048 and a...

The table creation script(at the end of this post) works fine on
4.0.1-alpha-win, but the foreign key constraints fail on 4.0.15-win. I
am starting the server with the same command for both versions:
mysqld-max-nt --console --transaction-isolation=SERIALIZABLE
In 4.0.15-win I can extract the following error after I run the table
creation script:
ERROR 1005: Can't create table '.\ibdata\#sql-a14_3.frm'

Hi
I have a table that currently has 466 columns and about 700,000
records. Adding a new DEFAULT column to this table takes a long time.
It it a lot faster to recreate the table with the new columns and then
copy all of the data across.
As far as I am aware when you add a DEFAULT column the following
happens:

Hi, could somebody please explain why the following statement consumes
six extents:
CREATE TABLE T1 (C1 INT, C2 BLOB(1K)) IN TS1
I see one extent for the extent map and one extend for data pages. How
many extents does this BLOB thing need?
Thanks in advance.

Why isn't ALLOW REVERSE SCANS the default?
Why do we have to
- drop PK
- create an index
- recreate PK
What are the advantages of indexes that do not allow reverse scans?

Hi,
I am dropping an index and recreating it to lower the high water mark.
The index creation is taking a lot of time. I am stuck as to why it
does so. Is there any way that I can find out why it is doing so. Is
there a snapshot that will help me while index creation.
P.S. There are no users connected to the system when i m creating the
index.

is there any trickery that can be done
with rand() so that it generates a uniformly
distributed sequence?
Suppose that I want any thing in the range
m..n (inclusive) to be generated such that
I never have a recurrence of a number.
I could build a table I suppose as I call
rand and any number in that table already

Is it true that if we don't specify a default constructor for
our class, then the C# compiler provides us with its own
that zeroes (or assigns default values) to the data members?
I wrote a no-parameter constructor for my class with an
empty function body. I then instantiated an object and tried
printing its values, amazingly the members were already initialized.
But how is this possible if I have not included any code for doing
so. The...

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it.
First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Dear forum friends,
With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...
